I purchased mine in October. Red with white stripes. Worth every penny fast cool and a real head turner. All the options except sattelite radio no holes in car.no stupid antenna on trunk. I have just over 700 miles on her. Weather is cold now so its in the barn untill spring. I was disapointed however that it came with lame floor mats from Ford. The dealer had nothing cool to add the the car like dealer magazines or stuff like that no photos of delivery ether. You would think that the dealership would do that for the buyer just because they know that we would like to have something like that for the photo album. They were sure smart enough to ask over sticker for it. Lucky to have this car and smart enough to know it.

 

I got my 2007 Shelby GT500 - Performance White w/ Vista Blue stripes - yesterday. It was shipped from Ohio (I live in MA) and I met the shipper in a local grocery store parking lot. He was worried his truck size would cause problems getting near my house.

It was 4pm and about 15 degrees outside when I arrived at the parking lot and he was just rolling the Shelby out of the trailer. What a sight to behold. My wife and boys tagged along with me. The boys (ages 9 & 11) were fighting over touching it first. I checked it over, saw no problems, signed the paper and off he went. The boys jumped in and I fired it up. If you haven't heard the pipes on one of these beasts - what a sweet sound. I was a teenager in the 70's, owned a 69 Chevelle convertible, 327 Vette motor, 4-speed in high school and its been a while since a new car sounded so throaty and eager to holeshot. As I pulled away, I noticed at the Midas shop across the street all eyes were fixed on my car. I pulled into their parking lot and immediately one of the bay doors was flung up and 8 guys spilled around my car. Cellphone cameras came out from every pocket and the guys just drooled eager to discuss horsepower, torque, etc.

I drove it to the gas station and back - put a total of 6 miles on it since yesterday. It snowed today so it sat in the garage, although I have fired it up a few times for friends and neighbors. It arrived without any dealer-prep. All stickers were still on it, the floor mats were in the trunk, and plastic covering was everywhere. I spent the day carefully peeling off stickers (my son has already claimed them as part of his inheritance) and wiping down gooey windows.

I bought a PT Cruiser in 2001 - the first year. I put my order in around June 2000 and was 24th on the list at a dealership in NH about 50 miles away. Local dealers were maintaining lists in the 40's. I waited 9 months to take delivery. In the early months there were some PT Cruisers available at $5-10K above MSRP. I refused to pay the add'l $$ because I read that Chrysler was planning on manufacturing 120,000 Cruisers/year. I knew there would be a glut at some point, and dealers would have inventory, etc.

I did pay over MSRP for the Shelby GT500 though. I don't think there's any way that supply can outstrip demand for these cars. My local Ford dealer has a list of 43 people waiting for the next GT500 due in the March/April timeframe. Ford is not building 10's of thousands of these. Companies can not ramp up production from 1000's to 100000's in a flash. Component and supply manufacturers can only build so many parts/major components/etc over a given timeframe without risking huge losses and even bankruptcy due to overstock. Its the free market at its best/worst, and in a few months time I'll find out if I hedged properly.

I have been wanting to own a Shelby Mustang since 1983. Unfortunately their value has escalated far faster than my income. When I had $2K to spend, someone wanted $4K. I got married, bought a house and had zero discretionary funds. Shelby's went to $10K. I had $20K they were at $40K, so I almost bought another Chevelle - but didn't. Now the 67GT500 are upwards of $200-300K. A 2007 GT500 can be had for 1/4 of that price - and I'm in. I have since registered the car with SAAC, SVTOA, and Shelby American - something I've always wanted to do and am now able to.

So you ask .... was it worth it? You betcha sweet a.. it was!!!!!

Every red cent's worth!

I am not the typical muscle car buff, but I fell in love with the mystic of the shelby the first time I saw it. Talking about one mean looking car.

I ordered mine in Oct and got it about three weeks ago. While I waited, I read every review I could get my hands on....just trying to smell the aroma through the pages. I read the good and the bad. I was prepared for the raw power (and was not disappointed at all!!!) and the relatively rough ride (it isn't too rough..just on rough roads) but hey, I didn't buy it as a luxury ride, I bought it because it was FUN!

It is my everyday ride. I have parked my Escalade truck and am loving every minute of the Shelby.

I got the convertible- white with blue side door stripe. I have mainly driven it back and forth to work (about 12 miles each way)= but have volunteered to go on every trip for milk or picking up my kids from practice that my wife has needed done

Last week, I needed to go on a business trip to Florida (I live in NE Alabama) so guess what- even thought I am a million miler on Delta and fly everywhere- I jumped at the change to drive I would have never considered driving normally, but it was the change to get some serious bonding time with my new Shelby (my wife even let me leave a day early, and I could barely wait to hit the road).

Even though I am one of the suckers who paid considerable more than MSRP, I have not regretted it for a minute (well that is not totally true.....I am burning, on average about 12 mpg and on this trip about 16 mpg, but my truck didn't get much better).

I bought the car because I knew it would be a fun drive, and boy is it! It runs like a mother and everyday, someone goes bonkers over it (actually had a guy yesterday want to trade his 1967 shelby for it....). Also, yesterday, while I was in a meeting, I looked out the window and three guys had stopped their truck in the middle of the street and were walking around my car, checking it out (at first I wondered if they were going to try to steal it...my bad...they were just getting off on it).

Tomorrow I am headed back home, and yes, while I have a 10.5 hr drive. I can't wait! In fact I went out today and bought me a $350 pair of driving shoes (Now I'll have to really do some driving next week to justify the new shoes)

Tomorrow, I'm going to pop in my ipod , drop the top and ride baby ride

Go take some pictures of new red ones at a dealership, no one will know the difference.

 

I think the new Shelby GT 500 is "wicked fast", fun to drive and is alot more comfortable then my 1970 GT 350.

Absolutely! Vista Blue with White stripes. Only option is the interior upgrade package. The standard stereo is more than adequate and with a symphony of the supercharger and the exaust note, who needs/wants a stereo at all? Yes, I paid over MSRP and I don't care. I've worked 40 years for a car like this. I only drive it on the weekends and never in the wet. I ordered it from my dealer the day they debuted at the New York auto show in March 2005. I was number one on his list. Waited 1 1/2 years and picked it up in mid August 2006. 1165 miles so far.....

My only nit pick is the rear tire road noise that is common to all of the new Mustangs. But then again it is a sports car.
