So I am on ebay cruising for a 68 Fastback for my brother and find this auction for a 68 with a CJ.

Some dude got old pictures of my car (KR Convert) from the dealer website, the vin, and put up an auction. Anyone with any sense will know it is a scam, he has 3 total sales, it's a Shelby etc....

How can I totally bust this guy? Like not have Ebay just take down the auction but show up to buy the car with the Sheriff? he is located 45 mins from me!!

eBay Motors: Ford : Mustang (item 260082760689 end time Feb-07-07 00:02:44 PST)

    Any idea??

One of the benefoits of being a member of the Shelby American Auto Club is being able take on fraudulant acts like this. I would recommend you contact SAAC, especially the "68 registrar about this matter.

I just sent the seller this message:

I am interested in this car, I am having trouble transferring the necessary funds out of my bank in Nigeria. Would you be interested in some kind of trade? I have a large quantity of gold (bars) in an ocean liner now at sea.
    thank you

    :D :D :D

MHerman, I would arrange just like you mention, get the sheriff over to confirm your car info, show him the Ebay listing and then head over to Aliso. Take your camera so you can snap some pics of the loser being led away in cuffs and post them here. Good luck.
I used to live in Irvine back in 97, I assume you up in the Long Beach area or Inland Empire? Bob

If I remember correctly, you were planning to sell it anyway. Maybe he is just trying to help you out.:laf:

You really need to contact Ebay and have them shut down this auction. The last thing you want is for some unsuspecting person to send this slime a down payment for something that is not his. This same thing happened with a 69 convertible I had after my auction ended. I contacted Ebay via the "Ebay live chat option" and got them to remove the listing.

I did tell Ebay's fraud department about the auction and requested it be taken down. I also did ask the seller if I could come see the car and asked how he was going to ship it to me. No reponse thus far.

Ejimbo, love your message, too funny.

I am just down the coast in North County San Diego, 45 mins away from the location of the seller.

Not sure I am going to sell the car anymore. It's a great car that I have spent a lot of time finding original parts for after someone robbed it of them 4-5 years ago. Snorkel, S-tube, carb etc.. It's been fun finding those parts. I just bought original wheels and hub caps and got rid of the repop 10 spokes this week. I have two little boys I would love to give it to one of them one day and go to the shows together etc.. Great hobby and great guys that are involved in it. We just need to work together to keep these sum bags from scamming people.:guns:

The person with the account that is close to you may have had his account hijacked, and the real person behind the auction may be half a world away. And that Gold Bar thing is funny as hell. Joker

Hello : I have to comment on the Ebay auction. I was looking at a 69 Mach 1, spittin' image of the one I had when I was 18. The guy said he was from Co., but wasin Arizona opening up a business. After I emailed him for "pre-registration info", I ck'd the auction, and it was closed early. Next thing I know, I get an email from the dude, and he said he closed it early, because he had a guy that was offering over the reserve price. He told me the guy all of a sudden, couldn't pay in the 3 day time limit, and that I was the only other bidder to pre-register. That is when I knew something wasn't right. I told him I would buy the car, and he said he would contact Ebay Motors, and have them send me auction sale info. I contacted Ebay, and "they" closed the auction, because the account was "high-jacked", and the account owner, didn't even know, until after Ebay closed it down. I knew something stunk, when I got a fake Ebay auction email, and to send a money-gram to Ebay Motors Customer Service Rep George Toma in Detriot, MI. Well, I know aGeorge Toma, from Detriot, the FAMOUS Groundkeeper. He wanted $ 2900.00 deposit, and the car would be shipped to me in MIchigan. If I wanted it after the inspection, I was to pay delivery service. I'm glad I wasn't born yesterday !! Ebay sent me the same crap, about privacy etc, and I told them they weren't doing to well keeping accounts private !! As someone stated in earlier reply, the guy is probably in VietNam or somewhere across the pond. Keep the car, you will kick yourself later, thats for sure. Jeff. raceri69

This is not the first problem I have heard like this with EBay. I wonder how many of the dozens of Shelby's for sale there are actually legit? :guns:
