I have seen the All Aluminum Shelby built 427 referred to as 468ci or 472ci? can anyone explain the difference to me? Also, does anyone have a spec sheet on this engine. i am in the process of having one built right now. Conrad
Conrad...the higher displacements are due to 'stroking' the engine with different crankshafts. YOUR builder should have provided you with a spec sheet on just what you have ordered, yes?
Bill Andrews at HRE told me he just ordered my engine in january and it should be delievered in June. i did not think to ask him for a spec sheet. He did say it was going to be 468ci. and i would receive a dyno sheet with it. I am sure he would furnish me with a spec sheet if i had asked him. He is really a nice guy and has been very helpful through out the entire process. Conrad
Ron, He told me last week he ordered it in january. All Aluminum with an 850Holley. Should fit nicely into my CSX4819, don't you think? he says it should produce around 550HP. Should be a peppy car ? Conrad
Should be peppy. Having driven the SPF MKIII's with various engines, I tend to like the Roush 427, which is a stroked 351. They make about 550hp (flywheel) with 515ft/lb's of torque. With the lighter weight over the steering, 200+lbs I'd guess, it makes a big difference in the handling characteristics while driving on the street. They sound great, too. But, for the authentic look when the hood is open, can't beat a true BB motor. I've never dealt with your engine builder, but that seems like a very long lead time for delivery?
Bill Andrews is the builder at HRE Motors in freeport Long Island. he is a great guy, he is the number one Shelby dealer 2 years in a row. I have heard nothing but great things about him. There is no rush with the engine. since the cars take longer to deliver. I am hoping for my car in July, perhaps August. whatever. conrad
