I have been lurking here for quite a while & decided I'd finally register. I own a 66 Shelby Hertz car, 0841 that I have owned for well over 10 years. I bought the car from the original owner and the car has an original 43,000 miles on it . Plus it still wears its' original paint, although I have been toying with repainting the car as I am having trouble tolerating it.

Good to have you registered and participating gsjohnson. Sounds like a great car you've got. Low miles... Please show us some photos when you have a chance.

Think long and hard before doing it as they are only "original" once. I also have an unrestored original H car. My paint is in excellent shape so will not be painting. My issue is the drivers seat has a 2" tear in it and that drives me nuts however I have been told to leave it alone.

I'm not much of a computer guy, so at the very least posting a pic would be quite challenging. As to whether to repaint the car or not, it is pretty bad in my eyes. The paint is completely worn off of the hood to where you can't even see the gold stripe. The entire roof has the primer bleeding through quite badly. There are no major dents otherwise, but a ton of scratches & dings. The worse dent is on the deck lid, about the size of a large tennis ball. Still thinking...

Oh, I forgot, I have that same small 2" tear in the drivers seat cushion, but other than that, the interior is flawless. The rear fold down carpet has a slight brown tinge to it from the sun. It has the original Micro mastercylinder, Autolite carb, Magnums & Hertz Maintenance Card.

Are you the G S Johnson from the Boss 302 web site? Just wondering.

The seat, just lay some object over it,,,like a die-cast car, a book like "the Cobra Story, etc. to hide it.

Yep, thats what I do....I put my lap belts crossed across each seat which covers the tear in my seat (but it still drives me crazy knowing its there)

GS welcome. If you send any pictures to my email I can post them for you... but you can likely work it out.

Since we (and spf_970) are all in Calif would like to find a chance to see both of your cars and get pictures for my massive data base.
