Hello Everyone! I am writing this message because we had a death in the family (My Father) and he has a 1969 Ford Torino 428 Shelby Cobra. His death has put me and my sister to put this car up for sale! Now we don't have all the facts about this car right now, I will get them as I get them, like VIN # ,photos etc. But what I know about this car is that it hasn't been licensed since 1970 and my father took VERY GOOD care of this car! He told me that they only made 50 of this particular car! I know it has the Ram-Jet hood scoop and the 428 on the sides and the silver cobras near the wheel wells. He also told me it has the Aluminum Block motor, the heavy duty steering package, leather bucket seats, etc, What I need from anyone out there is how to find a buyer for this car! P.S. Harrahs Automoblie Collection once wanted to buy this car about 25 years ago and my dad DID NOT want to part with this car. I know selling this car will hurt my father but I don't have the time nor the space for this car. I just want someone to buy this car and appreciate for what it is. Thank You
What is the Harrahs Automoblie Collection? I've heard of the Imperial Palace Automobile Collection. Is there a Harrahs as well? Just curious. Show us some photos of the car. You can attach them to your post or upload them to the photo gallery. RS
Re: Newbie Needs Help! As I was growing up in the mid '70's, Bill Harrah, owner of Harrah's had an Automoblie Collection in Reno, Nevada. But as he died,so did the automoblie collection (Big Business took over Harrah's, Holiday Inn) I live here in Las Vegas and know of the Imperial Palace's automoblie collection, not quite as big as what Harrah's had. And the other question you had, YES Harrah's is still around BIGGER THAN EVER! They will be the BIGGEST CASINO Owner in the world come around June of this year! They bought out Park Place casinos!
Re: Newbie Needs Help! BadBob, Sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I am not all that familiar with Torino's and their values but I would recommend contacting Kevin Marti of MartiAutoWorks (623-935-2558). Tell him you want to purchase a Deluxe Report ($40 or so) for your particular vehicles vin number. This report will tell you exactly how rare your father's car truly is and provide you with some pertinant history of the vehicles build date and so on. As far as trying to sell your vehicle - it depends on what your desired outcome for the sale is. If you want maximum dollar I would advertise on eBay and sell her to the highest bidder. If you want the car to get into the hands of someone who will truly appreciate her; you will need to decide on an acceptible selling price for you and your family and maybe advertise on a Torino website. I don't know of any offhand but I am sure they are just as crazy about their cars as us Shelby guys are!! Anyways, that's just my two cents and I wish you well with whatever you decide. Take care - David
Getting that Marti report is an excellent idea. I'm an old Fomoco guy, but I've never heard of any kind of 50 built aluminum blocked Torino's. But, if it was built, and where, and kind of why, the $40.00 Marti report would have the most important clues.
I am very sorry to here about your father. I am a member of the Mustang Club of Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Ford Club. Send me an e-mail if there is anything we can do to help you. We have several members that could help you with advice on your Ford Shelby Torino.
