Look on the back of the cylinder heads for partial VIN (you'll need a mirror) Trans should be RUG AE. If the tag is still on the passenger side of the trans, it will be stamped there. You may or maynot find VIN stamped on trans mounting ear top as well. Tim
Howdy Carl! the questions on date codes are common and in a simple way easy to explain they are year -month - day so on your block you would see 8D17 which is 1968 april 17 as a general rule these date codes are about 60 days prior to the actual build date. All cobra jet cars must have a date after april, 1st and all cars use the later 1/4 panel raised chrome reflector.Have you considered hiring an appraiser to look at this car?If you are a club member, somebody in your area could check it out.Be sure to run the numbers by the 68 registrar. Do your research carefully,it pays off later.Good luck!
yes the block has no vin number stamped on , i will be checking for the date code and will post my information the trany i see is 8d2 would that decode as 2nd april 68 it is a 4 speed
Carl: Here is a vin decoder for Mustangs: Classic Mustang Dataplate Decoder Also, I have a KR convertible I may be selling to buy a Cobra. I have a 67 GT500 already and want one of each (Mustang and Cobra) to take part in various events. If any interest in the KR let me know. Mike
