How does one determine if their car is an early production car based on the VIN since Ford, evidently, mixed the GT500 vins in with the regular production line? Mine was manufactured in June, 06.
Re: VIN Question Hello pompanokid, I just ordered my GT500 and I'm curious as to how the VIN works too. If you get any info would you please pass it along to me? Thanks alot.
Re: VIN Question I don't understand what you are trying to get at. With a 67' Shelby, well, there were cars with early features, (like the scoop lights) and they evolved from there. But with a 2007 Shelby, are you trying to say there is some sort of running production changes? What changes are there? And, how did they determine which 2007 Shelby was #001??
Re: VIN Question I wondered about this Vin stuff too, how will you be able to track down a car when it is 20 years old to be sure it is a real Shelby. I know that it is the only Mustang to have a 5.4 engine in it so in the case of the GT500 its easy, but what about the new Shelby GT or the Shelby GT-H. I hear the Shelby GT-H has a tag under the hood that says Shelby American and the number on the dash, but as we know if you can't trace that number to the car's Vin # it will be hard to tell a real one when people start to clone these too.
Re: VIN Question I found this site https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools Looks like if the 5th, 6th, and 7th position is T88 then this designates this as a Shelby gt500 and if the 8th position is a S then this designates the 5.4 L.
I'm not sure my question has been understood. Based on the VIN for an '07 Shelby GT500, how can you tell if it was the 10th one produced or the 1000th one produced? Ford mixed the GT500 VIN's in with the regular production run instead of keeping them in a separate batch.
Fwiw The VIN on the window sticker of the first 2007 Shelby GT500 to be released to the public, (actually number 2 Shelby GT500, I believe 1st one went to the Ford collection if I am not mistaken) this is the one R.P bought for $600K @ B/J Auction, was 1ZVHT88S475 200002 Doc
Hi everyone on this thread.A simple suggestion is to bring your V.I.N. to your Ford dealer and have them print you an oasis report. It will give you the exact date of production if that is what you are after. They can also print out the information for what Ford calls the historical build, and it gives a complete report of your special or unique features.Get to know the dealership, they are trained to know Ford products.Good luck and let us know what happens.
Good advice P/D Actually, I have the OASIS RESULT for my car, and while it does give some good General Vehicle Information in the Vehicle Information Report, including the Build, Sale, VOC/EOC, and Installed Option Information, it is rather limited, unless the owner has sought repair, whether there are any warning messages, ARN messages, gen warranty info, outstanding field service actions, or extended coverages. It also has Tire DOT Information, and ESP Information. I also have the HVBoM - which has the Features for VIN listed, and also has the Feature Description Table, which lists your vehicle codes and the meanings of those codes. I am a little curious why the HVBoM lists my car color as Colorado Red rather than Torch Red, however. I don't know if this is the Historical Build report you are referencing. There is also the engine SVT label, signed by the two engine builders, but other than that, that label is pretty much useless. There is a nice feature on https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools mentioned above to print the VIN Results for your car. Doc
Hello again folks! I think I understand now what you are looking for,and a few years ago in Mustang Monthly they listed a website for newer owners, and it gave info like a marti report gives for vintage cars.Stuff like your car was produced on this date in this plant along with 240 other cars that were all gt 500 models with black interiors,50 white 50 red etc etc.Maybe it is worth a try,and it will give you what you are looking for..might jog someones memory that has back issues handy..wish i could help more. These really are great cars, and now is the time to track them, while they are still new..ford also has a 999 report they will fax you.The customer assistance center # is in your owner guide.dont give up.
History 999 reports are garbage. I requested one for my 93 Cobra and was informed that it was a GT with a 5.0 V-8, that was 281 CID and a bunch of other nonsense.
