    You have made the conclusion that this is not already happening. I have not.
    An automobile is a two ton elephant.. Provenance is an relatively easy thing to establish.. (compared to say a pocket watch). The oldest of these cars is less than fifty years old... most of the people are still alive..
    I believe this whole "secret serial number" thing is an insurance policy for the owners who are terrified that their own car might be an air car, a number job, or a re-body. As long as the secret is held by this private club they are safe.
    I have said this before and I sincerely believe it:
    Someday there will be a car out there.. in perfect "factory" condition, to go with every single serial number.

    Answer this;
    How much do you suppose a serial number is worth? Do you think you could buy one with enough money?

    You seem to imply they are "totally secret" and if they were a lot of people would complain. But they are available to verify. It does not matter if a seller belongs to the club or not. If you are looking to by buy their car, (real deal, fake , air car, whatever) ..can you not run the Ford numbers with a phone call?

    ...the price of a phone call.

    The phone call will get you a yes or no answer.. I am asking about something entirely different.

    How much is the Ford serial number for an "unfound" Shelby car worth?

    Such information exists... Do you think with enough money a person could buy one?

    Well if 99% of the present scum bags cannot find a way to buy that information, is that not better than giving it to all of them?

    I honestly believe the answer would be NO. If you call one of the registrars you must have both numbers and they will tell you if they match. Or you can call Kevin Marti for a Marti report on a 67 through 70. Again, you must have both numbers.

    1) to whom?
    2) not from SAAC

    These questions are reasons why the numbers stay confidential.
