gt-350 R Front Valance

    Just registered today on the site!

    I was lucky enough to come across an original Gt 350 R front Valance. This was on an original R car that is no longer with us. Piece has some slight damage and slight road rash. My thinking is to leave it in original condition rather than have to painted to match my car. I was told to hang it on the shop wall & leave it alone? Any idea what this part might be worth? Problem is, i have never seen another for sale. Would it take away value to have it mended & painted? Thanks, Dickey D.

    It would be nice if you could post some pictures of it here. In my opinion it is only valuable to a R model owner. (or a collector of onobtanium). (It would be original for THAT car).. For anyone else using an R model front it shouldn't make any difference, ... whether it is a repro or NOS or what ever... sort of like a CD player in a Cobra.. what is the difference??

    Here are a few pics, the "Shelby Racing Diaper" is on the back, molded in the fiberblass on the edges.

    Since there were only about 30 of these made, it is entirely possible that this is a pre-production part. Does it appear that it was ever painted? Your posted images make it look like it just has primer on it. The round holes make it look like an early '65 style part. Knowing the rarity of this valance, the LAST thing I would do is paint it.

    is full of cool oddball memorabilia like this that people have either donated to the museum or sent to have put on display. I would agree... do not paint it. If you intend to get rid of it, I'd suggest contacting the museum. If you are ever near Boulder, CO... the museum is definitely a "must see".

    Thanks for the input, maybe a part like this deserves a place to be seen. I'm going to leave it as is. The valance appears to have never been painted, only primered. I would like to know more how parts like this were used/or not used, anyone with info, i would appreciate it. I'm not intending to sell it, but would like to get an idea of what it might be worth or how rare it really is? The idea of a museum wanting it maybe on loan is definately nice to know.
