I am ready to mount the 1965 Shelby steering wheel and noticed there is nothing to cancel the turn signals. Is there supposed to be a cam or am I missing something?

Thats the way it is: no cancelling device. However, you can use the cancelling spring clip from a stock Mustang steering wheel. You will have to probably turn down the bottom portion of your steering wheel hub to allow the clip to fit properly. I never bothered. Just got used to turning off the
    turn signals myself.

I agree....... I built a 1966 shelby clone and used the 1965 steering wheel to finish the look. I used a standard cancel spring clip that is on any 1965-6 mustang and it does the trick. If you find one make sure that you "clock" it right so that your turn signals turn off at equal distances. Just so happens that I have my steering wheel off so that I can get a flaming river steering box installed...so if you need a picture let me know.

Also, you will need to bend the turn signal switch a little bit so that the steering wheel does not come in contact with it.

One other thing....... I have noticed on some real 65 shelbys that they have a shortened turn signal switch. branda or shelbyparts.com may have it. Like I said, I just slightly bent mine.

To make a shortened turn signal lever: cut down a stock lever at the flat
that you use a wrench to tighten it with. That would be the end of the flat closest to the threaded end. Then use a die to cut the threads; and you will have your shortened lever.

My original steering wheel has a stop that's orange painted.

Thats not suprising. If anything, it just goes to show the consistant,
inconsistancies surrounding the production differences from car to car
    at Shelby American.

    Hi Pete

I have a later car and it has the orange stop and you can see that they heated up the turn signal lever and bent it so it would not hit with your knees.
