Hello every one hope all well i was woundering could any of you help me with a few questions im a bit puzzled on? 1 does any know or have information on the distances between the super snake stripes that go from the front of the car over the roof and to the deck lid(otherwise known as le mans stripes)? 2 i have tried to look up the original weight of a 67gt500 and gt350 however am told different amount of weights all the time from different books, does any one no the original weight that these two models where weighed as? 3 i have built a 302(347 stroker engine that has been on the dyno and produced 500hp easy(aluminium block heads ect.) what is the best auto gearbox to put behind it(i was thinking c4)? thank you every one for your time to read this thread hope all is well thanks again to every body Dave
#1 the distance between lemans stripes is a constant 2". Super snake stripes were thin-thick-thin over the car like the shelby side stripes. #2 I have weighed my 67 GT350 and it is about 3100 pounds #3 if I was running a auto, I would beef up a C4 I think.... I've read that the C6 uses up more power than a C4....depending on what rear gears you are running and how you plan to drive the car, maybe you might want to explore an overdrive tranny
thanks for the infomation however the stripes im still confused its a constant 2" between lemans stripes however do you know the thickness of the one middle stripe on the super snake stripes and the thickness of the 2 little stripes on the super snake? many thanks again for your time Dave
I have no info on the super snake stripes, but maybe these guys might be able to help http://www.uniqueperformance.com/supersnakeGT500E.aspx
thanks alot supercjcat for your time, help and information ill send them an email thanks again for your time Dave
Lets define this: Supersnake: 1 built Narrow-wide-narrow LeMans stripes: two wide stripes. For LeMans stripes, do a seach as this has been posted before. And, again: Funny how there are so many cars now with LeMans stripes that people think I left them off my Concours winning GT 350. Not so, in 1967 these where Dealer installed or owner installed only.
thanks roddster however i already know the distances of the lemans stripes and i wish to find out the distances and dimensions on the super snake stripes. thanks anyway for your time Dave
Dave, I contacted Dave Matthews, (67 Shelby registrar) about dimensions on the super snake stripes for my 68 427 fasback project. He informed me that the exact dimensions are not known, and that he had at one time judged the dimensions from photos by using known dimensions of other parts of the car. Maybe Charley will weigh in on this and go out and measure the stripes for you on the original car.
thanks doug for the infomation, if you find out any more info please do contact me on this thread also what where the dimensions you used on your 68 fastback could let me know please if thats ok with you? thanks again for your time Dave
I can't check the dimensions for you tonight, I'm at work. I'll get them as soon as possible and put them on this thread for you. Meanwhile, you can look at my fastback and tell me if they look like you were looking for. Click here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2550084
hay d ford thanks for the reply yeah would be creat to have the dimensions from your car please if no trouble thank you for your time Dave
Dave, I measured the stripes on my 68 FB. The wide middle stripe is 10" then there is a 2" distance to the outside stripes which are 2 3/4" wide. If you looked at the pics of mine and it looks ok to you then use these measurements. I just looked at pictures and laid them out judging from them. Hope this helps.
