From a friend of mine with FoMoCo.....

"Looks like we built 10,124 GT 500's.

2007 Shelby GT500 owners will be able to get their build information from the Ford Performance Group. I'd estimate they will have that data in August. Owners can call the hotline at 1-800-367-3788.

There will be a charge for the service which has not yet been determined."

He said the details had not been worked out but that a third party company was hired to unscramble which GT500 VIN was the 10th, 100th, 1000th, etc., to be produced. This is because the VIN's for the GT500's were intermingled with the regular production line and not set aside as a distinct group.

He said he thought a charge was unfair. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I suppose it would take another group to check into the ShelbyGT scenairo. It would be nice to see the final count on them also, only 'cuz I have one.

I have read that the Shelby GT was cut down to 5000 production vehicles. it started out at a projected 10,000. then was reduced to 6000 as production had been delayed. I think FORD made more GT500's than they planned on and it hurt the Shelby GT sales in the end. I enjoy the Heck out of my Shelby GT!!

I would think that the SHELBY GT numbers would be easier to get considering all are being built at Shelby and not Ford. I am sure that the Ford VIN # will not be in line with the Shelby number though, as in a Higher Ford VIN # could have a lower Shelby # then the one sitting beside it that has a lower Ford VIN #. BUT at least Shelby is Numbering the SHELBY GT's as they get built (with a Dash Plaque), thats what Ford should have done with the Shelby GT500's.

There were over 1,400 Mustang GT's waiting to be brought into the Shelby plant in LV last month, as I observed the scene. These are future Shelby GT's and Hertz cars. The GT's can have addittional Shelby upgrades added/installed to the 'build' while it is becoming a Shelby GT. Several of the cars waiting to get brought inside the facility were dated (soaped receiving date on windshield) February 2007. A car could be at the Shelby facility for 4 to 5 months before the work is actually completed. I have had one in the lot for 1.5 months, and am not being provided any 'ballpark' completion date. My point is that this will really log jam '08 cars for completion, until the '07's are finished. Looks like several of us will have zero mile '07's well into the 2008 model year! Another reason why FORD should step in a STOP the Dealerships from adding the "ADP" (Additional Dealer Profit). The Cars would sell faster and the Dealers would need more, meaning Shelby would have to hire more workers to build them faster. Dealers around here are asking $9,500.00 to $10,000.00 over MSRP so they are not selling that fast.

I agree Tesgt350, I have been checking around here and several dealers are selling them, the Shelby GT that is, at MSRP and others are jacking the price up as high as $10,000 :thumbdown now I know where I will buy my next car.

FWIW, SVTOA just published their new 07/08 calendar. In this there are the North American production breakdown for 93-07 SVT's.

In this it says 10791 for 2007 GT500 production, 8115 coupes and 2676 convertibles.

And it looks like the 2003 SVT Cobra is still the champ for cars build with 13476. 1996 and 1997 both break the 10000 built barrier.

    Hey Mirrorman,
Did you happen to take any pics of all those Mustangs sitting on the Lot waiting to get built? If so, post them so we can all see. Thanks.

Yes, I did take a few photos of the parking lot, as we were driving around looking for my car (never found it, but it was received in 3 days earlier!). I will be home in a couple of days and post photos then. Mirrorman:thumbsup:
