I got this from a friend. The story I got with it was, "When you went to the dealership to look at the new Shelby's. The salesman would give your kids some of this Shelby Money. The money was then taken to the parts dept. where it could be traded for toys and stuff." Just wanting to know if this was true or what it realy is.

The coin is 1.25 inches in dia.

    Thanks Larry

    Re: Shelby Money

that is a very interesting coin that you have got there. As for the idea of it being shelby "money", i have no idea. However, i believe that you could order shelby coins/medallions from magazine adds in the early to late sixties.

    Very Cool,
    Vern

Shelby Accessories made a key chain and a money clip that both look like this token. What does the back look like? Maybe it was attached to a clip before.

I have three of them that have never been attached to anything. The back is chrome with a star burst pattern on them. No pins or attachment points of any kind.

That actually looks like the center emblem for a 1968 shift knob. They are kind of rare. Neat piece. I have a picture on my website as well, but it is a little dark. I think it is on the interior page.

Thanks Coralsnake, looks like that may be what they are. If the size is right. When I got them, I thought they looked like a interior medallion. Having never seen a car with one on it I was confused.

I think you may have more than one of these? I would be happy to trade you some real money if you want to part with some of these.

I measured the shifter knob I have and it looks like the face is just under 1.25inches.

Hi all, I have both a Shelby money clip (empty as usual) and akey chain, the money clip is square with a similar Cobra, the key chain is very similar to the coin with the exception of a tab with hole for the chain. Both are in silver finish. Becareful coral snake, it could be one of those darn Canadian dollar coins ,LOL!. It looks like a neat peace!;)
