Check out this ebay auction! Sold on eBay for $430.85 One of the most noticable garments of shelby american racing. Any guesses as to value? Best Regards, Vern
Be careful on this one!!! This appears to be one of the early Tony Branda reproductions. The material is way too smooth and shiney than an original. They ( originals ) were made of a gabradine material. In fact I just looked at my Tony Branda supplied Cobra shirt, and yep, it has a made by Bowlers tag on it. Imagine that! shlby66
Good eye Shlby66! I am obviously not a clothing expert! Is it 100% that it is a fake or is there no way of telling? Best Regards, Vern
Do you know if they still have any of these shirts for sale? Id really like to have one but i didnt see it on the website. Thanks Vern
I've got one of these that I bought from Tony Branda probably around 1992-93-94, sometime around there I can't remember for sure. Mine has a tag that reads Embroidery by Maria's Monograms. The shirt however looks exactly like this one. Same bright color of blue. The only originals that I have seen were faded a bit and didnt look quite so bright. Because this one look's so "new" I would be very careful.
That checks as I have one that also has the Maria's Monograms tag too. I bought this shirt from Branda several years ago. The shirt with the Bowlers tag; I bought from Branda over 20 years ago. He apparently changed suppliers along the way. Take a look in the book "SHELBY COBRA" by Dave Friedman, page 106 and in "Remembering the Shelby Years" also by Dave Friedman. Pages 31, 32 and a great picture of Phil Remington wearing his team shirt on page 267. Notice the texture of the material used to make these shirts. Buyer be aware of the advertised "original" Cobra shirt. shlby66
So does your Brand shirt say Dry Clean only? Does anyone have an idea of the actual fabric these are made of? As for them being made available, they will be soon. Racing Division Inc has been awarded the exclusive license agreement to make this and several other very early CS apparel. All apparel, including the team shirt will be 100% Los Angeles made, Branda's orders will be the first orders filled. We have made our final prototypes and have approval from CS licensing. The embroidery on the reverse is being duplicated in 60's-style chain stitch and with Dave Friedman's help we are opting for an open collar version (original style) as oppose to the button down style. The tag will simply display the CS logo with care instructions on the reverse side.
Just heard back from Dave Friedman on the subject, he thinks this is NOT an original, he tells me that every one of the shirts that CS ordered were for employees only and each came with names, no blank shirts where ordered. He added that at the beginning of the new year or when a new person was hired, CS ordered two shirts for that employee, again with names embroidered. Also the early shirts, 62- late 63 all came with the ford patch and where open collar, the later where button down and had the CS patch. Again all custom made for each employee.
