I don't mean to be harsh on this guy....but this is the second time that he has listed this item at this price.

Wasting the money it cost to list it!

    Original 1968 Shelby GT350/500

    • Owner's Manual
    • Flyer
    • Brochure
    • Post Card
    • This is not a reproduction.

    eBay Buy-It-Now price $595

My topic of discussion is......will the prices of memorabilia go down as the car level out in todays market?

    Best Regards,
    Vern

Rather optomistic to say the least. I guess he's been sniffing his bath water.

    hey...it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

Right time, right guy.... who knows?

I know I have paid stupid prices for original this-and-that when I just "gotta, gotta have it"...and was sick of looking for a long time....wanted just to get it and turn the page on it.

    ...ya never know.

What is your opinions on how the market for original factory literature is going to do now that the cars are leveling out in price.

    Best Regards,

Well......with the New Shelby's being built, there is a whole new crop of Shelby owners learning about the Shelby Car's and the Man and will be wanting to buy Shelby stuff for the Home and Garage. Who knows, there just might be a boost in the price of Shelby stuff in the next couple of years before it levels off like it is doing with the Cars.

If you owned the car whose # is printed in it you might pay. Otherwise its just a momento.

Is it really that funny? As funny as a guy paying 20 large for a Autolite battery that doesn't work for a Boss 9? Or 300 for a valve stem cap for the space saver tire? Or the person that buys a car because it has the correct tires for the car he is restoring? Would I pay it? No thanks I went the $6.95 way to get mine. But, if I had to have the original one to beat the guy next to me, what's a G compared to what is in the car?

These arent rare enough to justify buying this with the price of this item. If i set my heart to it, i could have one of the manuals plus all the other stuff for under 350 dollars!
Obviously the general market agrees as this is the second or third time this guy has listed this item and it has never gotten even one bid.
Also, aside from a single bid, the reserve is probly dangerously close to the buyitnow!
I think the poor guy just doesnt know what hes doing.
    Best Regards,
    Vern

Well, I had an original once and I tracked down the owner. I gave him the manual, too bad everyone doesn't feel the same way. There is a difference between making a buck and taking advantage of someone. I guess for me the fact the book was were it belonged was more important than trying to get a few bucks from the poor guy. :guitar:

    Absolutely....well said.
I think an owner of a manual for another car is fine to request a decent price from the cars owner. HOwever, the price displayed here is even far above premium.

First of all this could be had for $495 not a thousand as I am sure one bid would get this thing. Also as far as rarity, there is only one original owners manual for #2393 in the world. If the original owners manual for my car shows up I would gladly pay that much. I would only be willing to pay this much if I had #2393 if I had any other 68 it is not worth near as much.

I think it is still far above what the price should be......it may be worth that to the owner but the seller is being greedy.

We should band together and find the car this manual goes to and reunite them at SAAC 39. Otherwise, this guy has been sniffing too much magazine mold.

Sit back and take no action. The NEW Generation. Somebody else will do it.

    Just a thought.

Being part of the NEW GENERATION, i can assure you that not even those who are truly optimistic about the collector world and its prices from our generation would consider this item to be worth this much.

Its either a case of a greedy seller or the guy just doesnt know what he is doing.

    Best Regards,
    Vern

Closed the deal outside ebay for 350 and no shipping charge.
    Thought that was fair.
