Can anyone tell me where I can find a COBRA racing shirt. The blue ones with the collar. I have tried Tony Branda but they can no longer carry the shirts.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I hope someone starts to produce these shirts again because they are REALLY COOL!

    Best Regards,

It is my understanding Racing Divison, Inc. of LA now has the rights to produce/distribute Shelby Racing shirts.
Check out info@racingdivision.com. I've exchanged a few emails with the owner and he is working on the Shelby Racing shirts (and other vintage shirts) now.

    Gentlemen,
I wanted to keep you informed on the progress of the Cobra Team shirt. We are in production as we speak and have attached an example of the difference between the last version of this shirt (unchanged since the early 80's) and our version. We have worked closely with ex Shelby employees to design the most authentic shirt here in LA. The images attached are of the COBRA embroidery found on the back of the shirt. The 80's design uses only horizontal stitching, about 25,000 stitches, the most economical and a sure sign it's computer made. Ours brings back the chain stitch last seen in the 60's and has over 45,000 stitches.

Hope you guys are looking forward to the shirt as much as we are. Branda will be getting the first order, we also will be selling the shirt and will be the only ones that will stitch your name on it too, old style of course.

    Stay tuned...

Feel free to check out the other Heritage designs: http://www.michaelholmes.com/shelbyapparel/

It is really exciting the amount of interest shown in the apparel line. Hang tight guys, September 22 I will be launching the a selection from the t-shirt line at the Los Angeles Shelby American Annual Car Show. The team shirt is in production with the first batch destined for Tony Branda. Final retail price still a bit up in the air.

I will keep each and every one of you informed regarding the delivery date of those shirts. I will also have the ability online to order the shirts and to request personal embroidery services as well.

Feel free to email me as some of you have, i will keep your names and email addresses and send you personal invitations when the shirts become availble.

    Kindest regards, happy racing.

what Los Angeles Shelby American Annual Car Show

When is this car show? First I heard of it. Or are you talking about the annual SAAC convention, which usually only occurs on the West Coast every other year?

That little thumbnail picture of the red Shelby, was that shot by the old
building on Princeton? I wasn't aware the building still looked the same on the outside--pretty neat that you can make it look like a '65 "factory picture" if you park a car in the right place.

Can you offer a picture on this site of what the new blue team COBRA shirt looks like? Also what will they retail for?

What type face was the elongated (horizontally) COBRA typeface? I haven't ever seen any type like it or did Pete Brock design it himself (when I was in advertising, I remember an art director painstakingly doing his own type face so "our" agency's ads would be distinctive).

Re: what Los Angeles Shelby American Annual Car Show

First, the LASAAC car show is this September 22 at the Santa Monica Pier (see LASAAC.org for more info). John Morton is expected as our guest of honor, should be some nice Cobras, Shelby Mustangs and other Ford performance vehicles.

Secondly, yes that is the old shop on Carter St finance & street car facility, just around the corner from the Princeton Drive Race facility. The building was torn down a year or so ago, it was really sad to see them bulldoze it. I grabbed a hand full of bricks which are stacked in my garage. They had 1042 Princeton being fenced by the same demo company so I grabbed the address plaque, also hanging in my garage. It look like the building may be renovated but hard to tell. I have always been a fan of the shots DF took of the cars in the alley and found it pretty easy to replicate the shots. (the car is also a replica)

Lastly, I am in the home stretch of having the prototype Cobra shirts ready to photograph for the catalog. So final details on pricing are forth coming. As for the COBRA lettering, these are all recreated using photographs and other vintage items. Brand creation is kind of a specialty, it sure gives you a lot of respect for those who developed it in the beginning.

    Regards,
    Michael
