can anybody tell me the diffrance between a 289 hipo block crank rods than a standard one how can i tell hipo block thanks
hay there the only difference i no of is that the main caps are thicker on the hipo engine compare to the standard as to take a bit more beating hope this helps in the mean time ill try and find out more differences Dave
The M1 cranks where hand picked and Brinnell tested for strength and iron content. They used a narrow timing chain to avoid conflict with the hatchet wait used to help balance the use of the large diameter harmonic balancer. Hipo and Boss rods used 3/8 bolts and 9/16 nuts rather than the standard 5/16 & 1/2. Hope this helps,
