    Just a few questions.....

    1) Seller claims this is real but i cant help to disagree as it doesn't have a printing mark or date on the bottom left corner of the back corner.....heard rumors that some originals don't have the marks but find those rumors very hard to believe.....What do you guys think!

    2) How do you tell a real 1966 factory press kit from a fake?

    Thanks A lot!!!
    Best Regards,
    Vern

I don't see anywhere in the ad for the 68 brochure that claims it is an original. It only says it is used and shows minor wear.

In addition to the above statement, the "Buy it now" for $40 has to make it a copy.

Thousands of copies exist. Back in the 1990's, even the Carroll Shelby Foundation was offering Carroll Shelby signature copies for $25 and frequently handed out free unsigned copies to encourage donations for Carroll's signature.

The seller has sent me pms saying it is original.

40 is about right to an original with 'minor wear'.

    What about the press kit?

    Best Regards,
    Vern

Hey Vern! The best person for literature is also a saac member.Look up Walter Miller in Syracuse Ny.For a press kit,the ones TDB was selling were sourced from a friend in so cal.and are decent for the price.Maybe you could look up Shelby's original photographer David Friedman...he would know if he took the original photographs..Just thinking out loud..Good Luck on your chase

I think in the early eightys a company named Dearborn Press Did the 65 and 66 press release kits. I bought both of them back then.

    This is why i asked.....

At first the auction had nothing on it about being real or fake....they added the Dearborn press stuff today.

Would sure love to have an original one day.

Thanks A lot for all the valuable info.

Hi Vernon, I have original 1965 and 1966 press packs but I think I took photos of the 1965 packet only since the web site is devoted to the 1965 GT350's. As far as literature collectors, Walter Miller is not the best person when it comes to Shelby American stuff, it is Howard Pardee or John Barnes . I know for a fact Friedman did not take the photos for the '65 packet I know the man who held the ladder for the man who did take the photos, his name is on my web site. I also know the man who bought the original photos from the photographer. Dearborn and Press out of California made the repops starting back in the 80's, I think their name was stamped on the inside flap somewhere. The originals had very crisp photos and were done in Ohio, since the photo processing was more expensive in California. The originals are now over 40 years old, my cover is yellowed and stained slightly. Newer ones have crisp white covers. Sometimes you can also tell from what his other items he has for sale on ebay, looks like most of his stuff is not original, so I doubt this piece is original either. The type written memos describing each one of the photos, is different from the repops to the original. Hope this helps
