Hey guys, someone asked me today what the Red Dot on the tires of My Shelby GT was for. I went with a guess that it was used to see if the tires were slipping on the wheels during testing/shipping, because it matched up with a piece of tape on each wheel. Was I correct?

I think that you might be correct there Doug. Ours is the same way, with the red dot and the small tape lining up.:cigar:

The dot/tape is used to line up the tire and wheel during mounting. Before they are mounted, each tire and wheel are checked to find the heavy side. Each is then marked to index the offsetting balance of the tire and wheel individually. That way the assembly is as close to balanced as can be before they are balanced as a unit, needing less weight. Learned about this in FoMoCo NVH class.

Thanks AJD! My wheels of tires must have been pretty far off, I have a S**tload of weights on the rims. But it does run smooth at high and low speed!
