How Many 67 GT 500's with A/C ?

The Marti Auto Report for my car, the first production G.T. 500, states that in 1967 there were 47 G.T. 500s equipped with automatic transmissions that were also painted candy apple red.

In 1967 there were 126 GT500's with AC. That was only 6% of production. 83 were automatics and 43 were 4 speed. I have the research because I have #2817 67 GT500 Acapulco Blue 4 speed with air of which there were only 4 and mine was the last GT500 with air produced in 1967. Red was 9, Dark Blue Metallic 8, Lime Green 7, Dark Moss Green 6, Wimbleton White 5 and Brittany blue 4. I am sorry I don't have a brake down of the numbers for GT500 automatic with a/c.

 

If we could collect all of the D.S.O. sheets like we've started to and reduce the data (see the 1967 D.S. O. thread), we'd be able to answer those kinds of questions. Hi to all on this thread.The easiest way to get accurate information is to have a Marti report done on your car.Just check out the website.Any car with air conditioning in 67 is rare,According to the shelby registry less than 75 G.T. 350 cars were made,with this option.The marti report is well worth the price,and will give you a breakdown by color and option(s) The hardest part is waiting for it to be completed.He will need the ford vin and the shelby vin.If you were really lucky,someone with a car optioned like yours has already had one done,but it would need to be a twin.What number is your car and why are you SOHC ? It has always been a favorite engine and each one has a story to tell....where did you find it????? let us know if we can help.P.D.

I have a White 67 GT500 automatic with A/C and louvered hood. Pretty sure all A/C cars had a louvered hood, does yours?

Dave Mathews told me there were 83 AC/Auto 67 GT500's made, 10 of which were white, 9 known to exist. Not sure on Red. Contact Dave and let us know, his email is on the SAAC site.

All of the A/C cars were meant to have louvered hoods . I have seen relieable evidence that some very late 67 Shelby's also had the louvered hoods from the factory. It might make sense if they were trying to use them up and didn't want to make any more regular hoods. Your car looks great. You have gone to alot of trouble to restore the car to historically original condition so with that said I noticed some things that were finished incorrectly and some incorrect and missing parts. If you would like to know what they are please PM me and we can go over them.

Do you know when the use of the louvered hood on the 500s with A/C began? Since my car did not originally have a louvered hood, do you think the idea/need for the louvered hood originated because my car retained so much heat in the engine compartment? Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Eric, I don't know the answer to that. Shelby didn't think keeping records about things like this would ever be important .We can only go by the info that Dave Mathews has accumulated from owners reporting in about their cars.
