I own 02751 here in England, and I have some paperwork with it that suggests it was shipped out of Palo Alto California around 1972. The consignor's name might have be Easton or Gaston ('70s photocopies fade!).

The car has two stickers in the rear screen. One says Cal State University San Jose, and the other says Cobra Club San Jose.

Does anyone know any history for this car?

    According to the SAAC Registry,

Completed June 20, 1967 and shipped on the 30th to Hayward Motors, Hayward California. (Hayward is due East of San Francisco, north of San Jose).
Purchased July 1st, 1967 by William and Arthur Wong of San Jose. Reportedly shipped on the SS MANCHESTER ZEAL from New York to Felixtowe, Eng 1972. Sat in a warehouse and purchased in 1973 by T.F.G Fiddy, Suffolk. Sold to Tunch Gurel of London, then David Willoughby, Winchmore Hill, London.

Car should be Brittany Blue, black interior, outboard headlights, K/H wheels, 289 HiPo/4spd.

The window stickers would be from the early 70's or late 60's, and if they're in good shape, they were of good quality to survive all these years!

You might also try contacting the 1967 registrar to see if he has any additional information, 67registrar@saac.com, and you can visit the webpage
http://saac.com/worldRegistry/1967shelby.html to add any information that is not complete.

    Hey thanks!

I knew the bit about it being shipped to the UK because I filed that info with SAAC. I am the last named owner you mentioned.

The early part is interesting - I wonder if William and Arthur Wong are still in contact with the Shelby scene and could be contacted for more of the early history?

The car is still the same spec as it was built. It has new (correct) paint, and I just had the engine rebuilt using as many of the original pieces as possible. Unfortunately the original block was cracked, but I have kept it in case future owners of the car want to repair it.

The screen stickers are in pretty good shape, as is the rest of the car, with no rust.

Many thanks for your help with this!

There is a huge Chinese population in that area, finding a Wong after 38 years would probably be pretty tough, just like looking for "John Smith".... You never know, tho.
