    Hi All,

First post over here, and was wondering if y'all could help ID a S2MS intake I drug in. I have done some searching and heard there were some different versions of this critter, including reproductions, and am curious exactly what I bought. Here are a few pics:

The Offy and "Drag Race" stampings are interesting.....obviously it was made by Offy.....what's up with "Drag Race". Is this an over-the-counter copy of the original intake? Worst part is that some clown started polishing the "COBRA" letters, but there wasn't a lot of material removed, and probably nothing the bead blaster couldn't take care of.

    Thanks for any ideas.

It is hard to see in the pictures but the intake looks like it was used on some type of competion car. It looks like the temp sending unit boss was never tapped. Are the two PCV bosses on the back runner of the intake untapped as well? Also, the fly cut at the carb mounting surface is not typical of the standard intake. It is an original piece but for what application it was intended, I do not know. I have an S7MS part #'d large lettered COBRA intake exactly like the one you have, assuming yours has no PCV bosses tapped. According to the previous owner, my S7MS intake was on a 65 GT 350 'R' model he used to own. He said it was a performance upgrade(cheater) intake for the original small COBRA intake. My intake has beautifully ported intake ports, does your intake show evidence of porting? Anyone have any info on the following:
    - Are there documented competition only S2MS and S7MS intakes and what cars were they produced for?
    - Do S2MS and S7MS flow better than the S1MS or are they cast thicker affording more porting? Paul

I have seen a NOS intake like that recently, with untapped water temperature and PCV ports. It was stamped DRAG RACE also. Since then I have heard of several of them in collections of rare race parts. I am told the late production GT350 R-Models and racing engines sold retail used them.

Correct. Got a boss out back, and then the temp sensor boss up front that are untapped.

    Thanks,
