I have a Shelby GT 2007, It's creeping up on the time to change the oil- first time- Is there a recommended lubricant for the 4.6? and as long as we're under the car, should any of the other fluids be changed (and replaced with what brand/type)? I have a feeling this is going to be a high-milage car, so in as much as I can I want to preserve it.

Any help from you folks would be appreciated.

AMS OIL has some great Senthetics (sp?) that are good for 11K Miles.

Make sure that you read the Shelby supplement that came with the car. It recommends using Synthetic Oil and requires a specic oil filter type. Shelby is really tight on the warranty requirements so I would follow the supplement until the car is completely out of warranty.

You don't mention how many miles you have on the car, but since you said it is the first oil change, I suspect that it is less than 5K. Nothing else needs to be changed at this time, but I would have all the lubricants checked for fill levels just to be safe.

For my car, I am only using Ford Racing / Motocraft parts and lubricants since I am keeping the car as pristine as possible and it is not a daily driver.

Hope this helps, enjoy your car!!!

Thanks, actually, I guess I'm really "old school", back in the day when a new car was purchased, the dealer recommended to have the initial oil change at 500 mi. I think that was because most of the new metal in the engine was supposed to wear most heavily during the break-in period. After the initial change, then every 3-5K. I have only had the car for a couple of weeks #4514, and drive it every day, "unfortunately" my commute is only 10 miles and week-ends have been cramped, so only 500 mi so far. I'll check the manual-

    Thanks again!
