Inspected a fake KR in the early 90's that the owners used parts of the KR numbering system and part of the Mustang CJ project number from Popular Hot Article. They had also applied a GT500KRX side stripe as part of the presentation. All this and more in an effort to present the car as a prototype of the KR. Had letters that appears to be signed by Shelby and others about the "project" What a load of C*** Took all of three minutes to uncover enough to be asked to leave. Can't say if this is the same car. Come to think of it ... does anyone remember what side stripe the Green Hornet end up using? Brain fade this late
I saw the car in FL. about 8-9 years ago,at Amelia Island. C.S was there with all his cars, etc. The side stripes had G.T.500 EXP. came with 4 wheel disk brakes, fuel injec. ind. rear wheel suppension, & a few other goodies. That's all I can remember at this time.---S. Oh, on the fender where the Shelby plate is there was no vin #, something about EXP. or green hornet ???
I know that the first real kr was sold at barrett jackson. Nothing special about it other than the fact that it was the first. Car was blue. Was recently sold by Russo and Steele. Best Regards, Vern
Bid to $181,500 at Monterey 07 http://www.russoandsteele.com/collector_car/1968_shelby_gt500_kr/7190.html Dont have a copy of the registry handy but does this car have a shakey history. Price seemed awful low for something that was the very first. Best Regards, Vern
