At what point does profit become greed?
    I'm looking for a 2008 Shelby GT 500 Convertible.
I'll put $15,000 in to Carroll Shelby's Children Fund, but I won't put it into a dealer's pocket.

The forcast is to build about 7,000-2008 GT500's with a majority of those being coupes. Say they build 3,000 convertibles. Given there are about 3,500 Ford dealers in the US, the dealers who are allocated one (1) are pricing them according to their model year allocation.

There maybe some 2007's convertibles around, but I would be surprised if you could get one for MSRP.

Did you check out the 08 GT500 at MSRP in my earlier post ? I think the salesman said it was a convert.

Just checked your other post about the dealer in Peoria; no reference to a convertible.

Is the soft top worth the 15,000 or more over msrp?

Could be worse.....a certain dealer here in KC wants somewhere north of 25,000 over for hardtops or verts regardless.(That was when i was looking at the three 07s on the showroom floor a month ago!)

If you are going to pay the 15,000 over, make sure to get 15+ worth of use out of it!

    Best Regards,
    Vern

ChiCobra, when you called the dealer he said it was a coupe not a convert? Why don't you post the color for someone that might be interested. MSRP is still uncommon. I have a 07 now that is why I wasn't interested and didn't get details but posted the number thinking someone on the forum who really wants one could benefit. You seemed so upset about puying over sticker I was hoping I could make your day.

You know, it seems like we have been having this conversation alot lately, always talking about buying for over msrp.
Here is what you do to solve this problem.
Buy a Brand New Shelby GT at msrp.....easy to find right now.
Go to Fords Racing Parts website and pick up a brand new supercharger made specifically for the mustangs engine for around 6000 dollars.
    http://www.fordracingparts.com/mustang/customize.asp
    http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9890
Im never one for big mods but this will give you 500 horse/470 torque, with the great handling and looks of the shelby gt. While saving a huge lump of cash!
Just something to consider or put things in perspective!
    Best Regards,
    Vern

Now there's some good advice!

That's what I have been thinking about doing but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Shelby can supercharge it for you.

It is MRUTCH (go to the top of post) who is upset about paying $15,000 over sticker. I was just explaining to him why it is this way. I never called the dealer as I have a 2008 hardtop.

You could also buy the Shelby GT then send it out to Vegas and have the supercharger added by Shelby who will update the stripes to GT/SC and keep the records that the car was fitted by Shelby thereby it remains as a "factory car" or however you want to state it, it wasn't modified by the owner and holds the value.

    07 GT supercharger add on

OK, now we're talking, I am going to call/email shelby motors for exact instructions and cost, time line, etc., for putting the supercharger (and any other necessary upgrades) to the GT to bring it up to 500 hp and keep the same great (better) look.

Will advise when I get a response.

Are we sure that they do this?
I cant find anything about it anywhere i look.
    Very cool nonetheless!
I do know however that they did do a CS6 which was a paxton supercharged six in 2005....dont know if they still do it although it is still listed on the website.
    BEst Regards,

The last I heard, they still produce the CS6 and now a CS8, but they are a built when ordered and I think you canship your Mustang V6 or GT Mustang to them for the conversion, just like with the Super Snake and 40th. Anniversary Packages.

I contacted Shelby today and received an excel spreadsheet with a list of mod's they do along with prices. So yes they do it and they in Vegas will do the SC/GT stripe cost is from $6,200 to close to $8,000 depending on options.

    Check out Shelbyautos.com

There is also talk of other shops around the country being added to do the work and maintaining originality but that hasn't been finalized yet.

Well..... I hope if Shelby does decide to let other shops do some of the cars, I hope he finds Shops that will put Quality ahead of Profit.

I got my GT 500 convt. for sticker. Shop around, tell the dealer what you are looking for. Where I live they wanted 15 to 20 over. I had do go out of state. They are there.
