Hello all, I am new to the site I am building a shelby GT 350 Clone because I don't think I would ever be able to buy a real one. I purchased a 1967 C code from San Antonio Tx. Very clean needed a little metal work, currently in the paint shop for final fitting of the fenders and doors, then off to paint should be ready for the spring. I am trying to narrow my color choices any suggestions what was the most popular color what was the rarest thanks for your help Nick
Welcome! As far as popular color goes, things have changed since 1967. By a wide margin, Lime Gold was the most prevalent color during production, but many of those cars were changed over the years. I like Lime myself, it has a certain "period" feel, and If I see one at a show, I know it was most likely not a color change car; also the 7th digit in the Shelby VIN is a dead giveaway. For 350's next was Moss Green & White <nearly identical # built>, then Nitemist Blue & Brittney blue. Rarest was Yellow (I show one on my list), Gray & Bronze (20 something each). From observations at shows, I believe that Red, White & the various Blues are now more prevalent, at least in this neck of the woods, but since it is your car, do what you want and keep us posted on it's progress. Mike
Hey thanks for the info I will have some pictures on this week, I am leaning towards black with white stripes but it is funny you mentioned the lime because that was my second choice Thanks again Nick
If you are going for the complete clone look, keep in mind that no 67's came with racing stripes from LAX, except for the super snake. Mike
