Hi, My friend overseas owns 6S923 and it was equipped with a Panhard Rod but no Underride Traction Bars. It has the correct bolt for the axle limiting cables but the cables were probably taken off when the Panhard Rod was mounted. Does anybody know when Shelby stopped installing axle limiting cables, timeframe or serial number? He just took off the rear brakes and the linings for the back shoes were segmented in three pieces and the front shoe linings (shorter) were not segmented at all. Is this correct? Please note that this car hasn't been touched since it was imported to Sweden from Belgium in 1974. Claude Dubois, the European Shelby importer and race car driver used to own this car. Car was shipped to England in Feb. of 1966. The changes were most likely made in England by the importing company but they could have been performed by Claude Dubois as well. Thanks for your help. Hi to Texas ! A good friend owns a 66 and it is equipped with overrides and cables, and it is 6S822.According to Howard Pardee they stopped closer to # 850.Looking in the registry this is sometime in Feb.of 1966.I think Roy Simkins may be able to,or has already provided part numbers on an old thread. Hope this helps ! P.D.
OK - here are the part numbers: S1MS 4183-A, WASHER – REAR REBOUND, Qty. 2 S1MS 4184-A, CABLE – REAR REBOUND, Qty. 2 S1MS 4185-A, CLAMP – REAR REBOUND CABLE, Qty. 2 S1MS 4187-A, EYEBOLT, Qty.2 Our Hertz car 6S817 has all the original hardware, but the cables are long gone. I have a set to put back on, but I need the correct crimping tool.
Thanks guys, The car has the upper bolt and looks like an original to me in comparison with my 65. Texas Swede
Did own 6S888 Now own 6S814 Both have original overrides. Interesting though, the way the overrides (and associated hardware) came through the floorboard was different.
