If you could… I’ve been coming down lately on Unique Performance and I have narrowed my reason(s) why. Either it’s because I feel they selected the wrong year to manufacture “Shelby Extension” utilizing the 68 Model year, or, I’m angered at how innocent customers are apparently getting the shaft along with loyal employees. This is controversial I know, but I have to speak out. So here’s a question that will help my “Theropy”… … If you were to “Build” a 69 Shelby today, how would you build it? Would you flare out the fenders, use a better frame, change the hood and/or add your dream engine? What would you do that doesn’t take away too much of the original design of 69 Shelby’s. Ya know, don’t stop on the exterior. Please keep going. How or what would you change on the interior? Let it out. Let’s keep it real. No Mexican Jumping Bean please…
reproduction 69 fiberglass takes much labor.. I would consider redoing the rear spoiler design ..lay it back some with different treatment on back side. Modern 07 GT500 drivetrain would be nice. But we may be talking blasphemy. Note: above foward looking statments are not directed towards any real cars and would only apply to completely unpure bastardized tribute clones that have no soul but possibly 500 plus horsepower with good looks.
I would build the body exactly how it came. Maybe a 427 Side Oiler. Every known option from shelby. That would be it. -It seems like sometimes, the members of this forum concentrate more on the negatives than the positives. Maybe we should just lay off the conversation about Unique. Its really not benefiting others. Besides, unless you have one on order, which you obviously do not COBRAMAN, then you cant possilby know the whole story. We have a member on these forums who has a convertible on order from them right now and so far i have heard nothing but good things from him so why do you feel the need to constantly bring this matter up as if it affects you personally? Full Art Morrison chassis, Roush 588R, T-56, mini-tubs (std rear seat, no fold-down), stock body, six pt. roll bar, 4 wheel discs, stock exhaust log modified for 3" pipes, 17X8" front 18X10" rear American Racing Torque Thrust Classics, stock interior lines with new surfaces. The donor car is a 70 Mach1. Don't get upset, we purchased the car because it had good rockers and a roof (it did have perfect rear frame rails if anyone needs a set). Since it is a 70, ours will have a front spoiler and hood stripes. Our vision is to have a car with lines we love, but with performance and comfort the original never had. So far, it's coming together nicely.

For the seats-high back racing with the comfort weave style pleats and red stripe in a leather and fabric combination. For the dash-stock four hole bezel with updated gauges surrounded by brushed aluminum, same for the pass side. Useable console with climate controls you can actually reach while driving-including window and lock switches and a cupholder that works. Deluxe door panels with stitched leather, aluminum inserts and LED courtesy lights. I could type for days. I hope this gives you the direction we are going with this. Also, this is not a trailer queen, it is a driver.
