I have found the Unique threads very interesting, just in case you need a quick update, it goes a little like this:

According to UP they have delivered 119 cars to date. I am not sure if that includes the Foose cars?

They currently have between 80-106 cars in some state of production.

If you are keeping track with a $75,000 deposit, that's somewhere between 6-8 million dollars up front. I suspect much more.

There are at least 12 Super Snakes with "major issues".

Unique claims only a very small percentage of their customers are disatisfied and have legal action against the company.

At the beginning of October 2007, Shelby Automotive either took steps or did sever their relationship with Unique because of customer complaints and failure to deliver cars. This doesn't really support the claim there were only a few disatisfied customers.

There are at least two websites, where disgruntled customers are upset with Unique's finished product or lack of progress.

According to one forum, "Things are not looking good for Unique...today I went by there and they were closed. The local Farmers Branch police were there as well as a TxDOT official supervising the removal (via tow trucks) of both finished and unfinished cars." That was as of Novemebr 3, 2007

At least one customer was told to contact Unique's attorney after inquiring about the staus of his car.

It appears Unique was taking deposits on cars through October 2007.

If any of the information in this post is incorrect, please let me know. My intention is to summarize the events.

Does anyone know if Unique was at SEMA the last week in October? Were they taking deposits?

I think you have done a great job.. You hit it all on the head!!

This just in, I have heard that the FEDS raided UP this morning, and have taken all of the docs, computers, and files in the office. Five buildings full of cars that have been started, and or finished.

You want to see a circus, wait till the attny general gets his hands on these guys, then the real fun starts...

As the days go on, it just keeps getting worse..

Unique was not at SEMA. There was a garage cabinet company that called itself Unique and had pictures of Unique cars pictured/wrapped on their products but when ask they said they were licensed by Unique and had no other connection . They seemed to be clueless about what has been happening with the car company. It appeared that other former affiliations were trying to distance themselves as much as possible.

    Thanks.

I know that as time rolls on, the dates and times often times can get distorted. I just wanted to get some accurate information in one place.

This is unfortunate anyway you slice it. Hopefully, it will get ironed out. Now, let's find that dog!

(Reference to earlier posting, when it appeared the lynch mob was forming)

Here's something that may be helpful for those who are getting the short end of the stick. Perhaps this link will serve as a means to contact all that have provided a deposit but did not receive a vehicle.

TMZ.com is showing the docs of the woman who is going after Shelby for using the name Ellanor. As in GT500e.

If I am reading it right, ( I am no attny ) it looks to be valid. Yet another chapter in the life of Shelby/Unique Performance..

If its ture, then these cars that Shelby is offering threw UP, are all void. Wow, now that's some wrinkle..

    Yet another thought...:p

That is a lawsuit that has been settled. The decision was in favor of Shelby and the picture company.

I do not think it is any way related to the current Unique Performance problems. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong....

I mentioned the websites for the unhappy customers. That is one of them. The other one is fixeleanor.com.

Give that guy a star, he can be in the posse :evo:

I am just guessing the feds just want to do quality control on the blowers and suspension and the feds will have the cars back to Unique by Monday!! At this rate I should get my car in 2011 to 2012.

This is another new lawsuit, with the same flavor in it. If you can, take a few mins to look at the docs, and then read some of the blogs. It looks like a valid claim. But I am no judge.

What I do know, is that these men have been stealing from the public for some time now, and "other" people did know what's going on, and let it go on!!

Its going to get real hot befor it all ends!!:thumbdown

As far as the FEDS, well that's going to be another storie, at least 4 to 5 years befor that is complete.. Wow, that puts it into 2012...

Did they ever find the dog?? Or is he in the pen already?

    Talk soon...

when you have too many Irons in the fire, some of them are bound to melt. I guess Unique Performance is a fine example of that. while I am not a huge Eleanor fan, I thought the concept was a novel idea and I really liked what they did with the suspensions, Drivetrains interiors etc. I really liked the 66 versions! I guess they will be available at a Fed Auction at some point!

If you like the early version you missed an opportunity. The 1st of those was at auction at Russo & Steele (Monterey) this year. Not much interest with only one or two bids - stopping in the high 50's - low 60's if I recall correctly. Though the sale and the price was interesting and possibly an indication of things to come.

Like street rods, never understood why someone would pay someone else to build their dream car. But that is just be ;)

    It was "numero uno".

Bidding stopped at $73,700. Owner probably took it back home at that price.
They don't say if it sold or d/n/m reserve

The bidding must have continued after the hammer fell ;)

It was a no reserve car .... but we all know that doesn't aways mean that the car sells :thumbdown

I believe it goes something like:

"...going once....going twice....SOLD...to the chandelier in the back of the room."

Word on the street here in Dallas is that UP has filed for bankruptcy and that all of the cars are slated to be destroyed.
