Does anyone know where to get the rubber snubbers for the rear springs? I have the mounts, all I need is the rubber part. I have not been able to find a repro of them anywhere. I know Branda sells repro of the whole unit but the snubbers are not even remotely close to original looking. I may end up having to scrounge up a couple old galaxy pinion snubbers off ebay or something. Also, what color should the mount be? I'm assuming it's going to be a natural cast iron color but i would just like to verify that. thanks
Pinion snubber is the only one right now Just got to watch out for that dry rot they are a perfect match. Dominic
Re: 67 shelby real leaf snubber Check with Branda on those. We are the ones that make the mount,Tony says he has some one making the rubber part.He should be able to help you.If not, look for the old pinion rubbers. If you need some ASAP,let me know,I think I still have a couple originals that I would sell. Greg
63 Galaxie. Gee, if Tony is having "correct" rubber made, it would be nice if he had correct castings made of the base. A set of those showed up on Ebay last year and went for more than $400.00
I believe the base if fairly correct-at least from the pics I have seen, they look to be. The rubber on the other hand is WAY off.
Re: 67 Shelby real leaf snubber We used a urethane rubber so people can tune their car for there ride height. The mounts are made from the Ford prints, and set off of my old 67 GT500. Greg
The rubbers snubbers are the same used on the pinion snubber shield of a nine rear end . The trick is it is only the ones from 65,66 and 67 rear ends which have fine threads that will work and are correct. The 68,69,70 ones are coarse thread and carry a C8 engineering number . You could adapt the later one if you had to and couldn't find the other because the later ones are the same shape. I hope this helps in finding the right one.
Bob and Dom are correct about the pinion snubber being the same. Also, if you are looking to be concours correct, the originals have a C3 part number molded into the snubber. Kenny
"C3", that is where I got the 63 Galxaie reply from.... And, I better get a newer Branda catalog, the last time I saw the metal bases for these they where way off.
Re: 67 Shelby real leaf snubber If you are looking to make like the exact originals, you had better be ready to give old Shelby his cut.Have to make some changes to not look exactly like his! Greg
firestangt: below is a pic of my leaf spring snubbers and pinion snubber waiting to be reconditioned. As you can see the pinion snubber and leaf spring snubber rubber are exactaly the same. Same part numbers are on both rubbers. Mustangs Unlimited offers suspension bumpers that look close. Maybe with a little fabrication you can shape the rubber to look like correct to the original. http://mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=F1615+01 Hope this helps, Jim
Re: 67 Shelby real leaf snubber Why would we be giving "old Shelby" a cut on a Ford part? Or are the bases Shelby specific and if so, what is the part number? Thanks.
I know this all hypothetical but I believe that would be considered a TRICK question . The snubber base is Shelby specific but it is part of the Ford parts system. With this particular part if a replacement was needed it was only available through the ford parts system and not through Shelby like wheels etc. The S7MS prefix refers to a part made for a Shelby for cars being produced on the assembly line ether at Ford or at the Shelby faciity. I believe this part was installed at Shelby. It is part of the Ford part system and the suffix (which I don't have committed to memory and haven't looked up) is also part of the ford system . My opinion would be if you had to give a cut to anyone it would be to Ford and that is only if you put the S7MS engineering number on it . If it was a part that had to do with the appearance of the car it might go to Shelby .Since it is not a safty related part I don't think they really care UNLESS they see a lot being sold .Then they would want their cut. Things like this are what give high price lawyers a reason to exist because a case could be made ether way.
This was not ment to be a TRICK question. Do we know what the part numbers for this assembly are? I'm thinking that there are three numbers involved here (snubber, base, and assembly). Thanks.
I Dont Know If This Is A Part Number But The Numbers On The Fomoco Snubber I Removed From My Shelby Read: Fomoco C3aa-4300-c Jim
