Hello from the Pacific Northwest. My name is Mark Cook, I live in Puyallup WA. Ive owned my 1966 K code Mustang since 1973. I got my intrest in Shelbys since the early 60s when my Father worked as a salesman selling FORD cars and trucks. I remember sitting in 289 AC Cobras, and Shelby mustangs for hours at a time, waiting for my father to get off work. Anyway looking forward to enjoying this new site.
Courtesy Ford in Colo. Springs and Phill Long Ford in Denver. I think 1966. The 289 Cobra that I remember most was Silver, so so long ago but I think that it had red interior.
Courtesy ford....i think i may have some literature from them but not sure. Welcome to the forum! Great story! Vern
HM289K Welcome to the forum. My 68 GT500KR is a Courtesty Ford car, was your Dad there in June of 68? The records I have say the saleman was last name was Erickson. It would be wild if that was your Dad. Anyway this forum has a great bunch of folks, enjoy! Ranger Jerry
Welcome, would love to see some pictures of your 66. Let us know if you get a chance to post some in your gallery.
No... not my Dad, but I called Him yesterday and he said they sold alot of Shelbys at that dealership. He also said that Phil Long Ford was realy heavy into the racing thing. cool stuff. Thanks for the warm welcome and I'll be looking forward to picking your brains brains in the future Mark
By the way, did you know 66 is the rarest year for fastbacks/sports roofs? Rarest both in percentage of production and actual number made. Fastback/Sports roof production 1965 77,079 1966 35,698 1967 71,042 1968 41,246 1969 136,915 1970 94,422 1971 62,261 1972 43,297 1973 46,260
yah,no I didnt know that, also what I think makes my car kind of rare is the K code option with an automatic. I have lots of little ? about the car that I'll save for later days. or nights this winter. Thanks Mark
