Well the trend of the forums are to discount the Shelby GT, as just a mustang that has stickers. Forgive me for being that blount. From what I have been reading, all are saying well if its not a 500, then its not worth talking about. See you folks later, sorry I joined, didn't know the GT was a second class automobile on this site.

Hey 1968Mustang, Don't give up yet. Believe it or not, the 2006-2008 Shelby GT's and the Shelby GT-H's are more Shelby then the Shelby GT 500 is. If you read the Thread about the News from Sema, you will see that there is a New Shelby Club forming that will make you feel right at home, but please don't give up here. Thaose that feel that way is in the Minority not the Majority.

Am I missing something here?? I have yet to be dissed about my Shelby GT. I have done nothing but sing it's praises. are you certain it was this site where you felt like a second class citizen?? gosh we hate to see you go so soon as "We hardly knew Ye!"

It's an interesting point you mention, but, it cannot be true. To the contrary, a Shelby GT is probably more than a Shelby GT500, just for the fact that the Shelby GT is (massaged) by the people at Shelby Motors. The GT500 comes out of Ford. I own both a Shelby GT-H and a Shelby GT500, both are Shelby's, will always be nothing other than.

Enjoy your Shelby GT, you made a great choice.

Good Luck, and many pleasurable miles to you.

This is an all inclusive site. We even appreciate Shelby Mavericks.

You must have us confused with StangsUnleashed.

I agree, I sometimes post on the mod/late model performance sites and they discount the Shelby GT as a Mustang with bolt-ons and stickers. But, lets face it, that is basically what the 60's Shelby's were. What makes them special is the great styling and exclusivity of the Shelby marque. Anyway, they are respected here so join in the fun.

I guess the question is; is there anyone out there who drives either a SGT or GT500 who does not constantly get comments (good ones) about the car? I drive an 87 Targa Carrera when the weather is not too hot (Very poor A/C design) and the SGT gets allot more notice. All in all both Shelbys are very cool cars, I have yet to drive a 500, but I'm sure it's awesome. Also, been thinking of adding supercharger to SGT. If anyone has done that I would love to hear about it,

1968mustang, as we all know the original cars of the 60's were built at both the Shelby facility (65 - 67) and through Ford and A.O. Smith Co. (68 - 70) and ALL are considered authentic Shelby Mustangs. The same is true with the current generation. The SGT's and GTH cars are finished at Shelby's facility and the GT500's are built at Ford but all are considered genuine Shelby Mustangs. As far as I'm concerned and I think this applies to most members here as well, any of these cars are appreciated and none are looked down on. We love them for what they are...performance automobiles with Shelby's touch.

Ok, uncle. Glad to see there are some Shelby GT owners on the forum. We just aren't as vocal I guess. It is a great care.
