I have just bought a 2008 GT500 and was wondering about the conversion to a Super Snake. Is it worth doing the upgrade and if so who do I contact to do the conversion. Thanks for any help.
Re: Super Snake Shelby Automobiles is the main place to get the Conversion done but I think they Licensed a few companies around the Country to do it as well. As far as being worth it: It all depends. <01> Do you like it? Then Yes. <02> Can you handle the extra Power? I hope so. <03> Will it add value in the future? I am sure it will as I do not think that many will be converted over to the Super Snake. I hope this helps. David.

Thanks everyone for your input and I have gotten in touch with the people that do the SS conversion. I bought this 08 black with with white stripes for my dad. Well I took him for a ride and he was scared to drive it to Arizona (too much responsibility) so now I have it. This is my first Shelby but my dad had a 67 stang which he bought brand new. I am glad he did not take the car because I love this car!!!!! Thanks again for all the info and I am glad I found this site.
Mirrorman, I couldn't get a definite answer but was given the impression when talking to the Shelby Mod shop people at their booth at SEMA that it would still be 30 to 60 days before they would start converstions . Do you have more accurate information?
Has any Shelby GT 500's been converted yet, other then the ones seen at the Shows? If so, what is the Cost for the Conversion? Is the Cost the same weather it is done at Shelby or at another Licensed Mod Shop? David.
I contacted Quantum Performance, a new shop in Farmers Branch, TX regarding a power upgrade, etc on my 07 SGT #4517. They were quick to introduce themselves to me via email but the shop will not be open for a couple of weeks. If they do "original" upgrades I will likely have a supercharger installed and some interior upgrades. I will keep you all posted with my findings. Bob, Mambo & Fellow Shelbyites THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT!!! The Quantum Performance Team welcomes one and all to our Shelby Mod shop operation. We are in the final stages of build out and equipping our two new 11,000 sf (each) buildings. We are knowledgeable of Shelby cars old and new, owners of Shelby cars old and new, enthusiasts...and experienced businessmen. We have passion for all classic and late model muscle cars, and will always try to serve each client's needs to the best of our ability. Quantum will be able to receive customer vehicles into our facility for repairs later this month, when we receive our Certificate of Occupancy on the first building. The second building will be operational prior to year end. This building will include a ~3,000 sf retail showroom for display purposes, a fully manned and stocked parts department, and our primary customer repair shop, including a new 1,500 HP dyno, 5 lifts, etc. The parts department will be 'stocking up' throughout the winter months. The Shelby Mod Shop will begin to take post title(customer owned), late model Shelby autos in for repairs, parts installation & mods..prior to year end. We do not yet have all of our Shelby program information, so it is best to wait until we can provide dead on and accurate information. Any Shelby authorized Mod performed in our shop on your Shelby will preserve it's authenticity, purity and lineage in the Registry. The SS package, to my knowledge, has yet to be installed on any SS, other than very few at the Las Vegas facility. The 600 HP version is available at $27,900 installed(not absolutely positive), and the 725 HP version is priced at either $31,900 or $32,900(once again not absolutely positive). The final bill of materials and costing on the 725 HP version was being finalized last week, per SAI. We have a number of GT 500 owners lining -up for SS installations. I believe late December or January is a fairly accurate time frame for SS installations to commence at our facility. SGT mods, such as Supercharges, brake kits, accessories, etc. will be taking place at our shop prior to year end. We are very excited to enhance the overall performance and ownership experience of Shelby cars...and their caretakers!! Ohhhh, now I just have to find a shop closer to me so I can have a Supercharger added. Texas is just about the same distance as Vegas for me.
