Re: Important Shelby News out of SEMA

The thing I look forward to is eventually having the history of the cars searchable online. Right now you have to send out an email asking if anyone has seen #267. It would be great to have a site to go punch that in and show who the owner is and an email for him or her should they choose to make it public.

My only issue with right now is that in this modern age of communication the car history's are a mystery when they really don't have to be.

    Agree..but there are several issues.

My registry experience shows that many, many people do not want their personal data associated with their ownership online. As values increase, this becomes more of a security issue, they say.

What would be good in an online listing is a domain-based mail forwarding system...like a P.O. box. That would keep the owner private, unless he chose to reply in the open.

The new gen Shelby Mustang Registry that is online now is only accessible to people who have paid to join.

I did software for a Kirkham Registry that will be online.

    Kirkham Registry

This is what I think an Online Registry should embody. Of course, the older the car, the more history and priors there would be.

If you want to discuss this, please start another thread...it is really sidetracking this thread's topic...sorry.

I know the guy who owned my KR before me doesn't want his name out there because he robbed it of a lot of parts which I have spent 2 years finding, finally completed that conquest recently.

Anyway, as you mentioned, if you pay to join and you are an owner it's really simple to let the owner choose to make their information public or private, basically a radio button selection.

You can also anonomize their email. You could send an email very much like you do from this site, it gets to the person but you don't know their email unless they respond to you.

Identity is not a problem, lot's of ways to allow the owners to choose what level of information they want to share or if they want to respond to a private message.

Modern times call for modern solutions.
