As a follow up to the FE header question, I thought I would ask the question. Which headers have you had luck with on a 289 302 in a 65-70 Shelby or Mustang? Ease of fit? Price? Performance? Jon
I kind of like Tri-Ys for ease of fit. Unless you are racing on a consistent basis, they are a pretty good bang for the buck. Four tube headers are a better choice for all out performance.
I second that. You can install the Headers in a 1967 to 1970 models with the engine still bolted in the car. Not sure about 65/66 models though. David.
The engine can be left in place while installing Tri-Ys in a '65 or '66. I've done it. These have to be just about the easiest headers in the world to install.
I agree with Roy I have put tri wy's on my 66 350 289 4spd and it could not get any easier. I have Hooker super comp on my 68 350 302 4spd good fit did not even need to instal a power steering drop down bracket. I have hooker super comps on my 69 350 351 4spd also a good fit but needed the drop down bracket for the power steering cylinder Dominic
I have the coated Hooker super comps on my 66 289 GT 4 speed and they fit good. That car does not have power steering so I don't know if a drop down would be necessary.
