HI! I am a new shelby owner. My husband has had a great love for any thing SHELBY including naming our daughter SHELBY. I use to love horses. one day decided to go look at a cheap mustang (reg. model) saw on the show room floor my true love a black with gray stripes SHELBY GT350. I am just starting to learn what I have purchased 2 weeks ago (11/2/07). Now my husband is planing a trip to go buy his BLACK SHELBY COBRA (1965 model(mathching). I guess the horse days are over. One question about my 07 GT350, my car has the mustang emblems on the wheel centers and front grill, why did it not come with the cobra emblems instead? If I change them would it depreciate the value of my car? Any info would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forum an congratulations on your Shelby purchase. I assume you are refering to a Shelby GT. When I last checked with John Luft, the GT350 is the property of Shelby Licensing and the name is not authorized on any 07 cars. Some Ford dealers have thought of making modifications to GT Mustangs and using the GT350 name are being cited. So I hope what the dealer sold you is a real Shelby GT. Check the side stripes to start.
That is a Beautiful Car. The reason it does not have the Cobra is because the Car started out as a GT Mustang before Shelby Automobiles got a hold of it and because the Cobra is reserved for the SVT Mustangs (SVT Cobra). The Shelby GT 500 is basicly the new SVT Cobra. David.
I would say if you want Cobra center caps then get them. Just keep anything original you take off in case you want to replace them later.
The dealer labeled mine a GT350 also, so don't feel bad, just never trust a salesman! Some dealers have been getting "clones" by adding all the items and calling them "Shelby upgrades". If you have the 07SGT ID badge under the hood and on the dashboard then you have a Shelby GT.
