Hi Jerry Thanks! nice to meet you too!

No not here only down-under! but there were converted too!

Ford liked to keep it simple! and owners like them in LHD because it makes them feel they now they have something specail different to anyone here.

Some took some recent pictures at goodwood race track Here of my car! and 2 shots i have taken.

Hey Steve. I think maybe we Brits are taking over the asylum!

Regarding RHD mustangs - many years ago (I'm guessing 20 years ago) I met a guy in West London who was restoring a '66 GT350 on his drive. It had over-ride traction bars, so it might have been an early carry-over car.

Anyway, it was RHD, and the story goes that it was originally converted by Ford to be used as a recce car for the drivers checking out the Le Mans circuit without using the precious race cars. The Shelby was converted to RHD because the GT40 race cars which were RHD (with the shifter in the right hand sill box section).

The story could be total bs, but it sounds good! Can anyone add any facts to this story?

I wonder if that car is still around...

    David

Hi David Yes i think your right! we have to try building the British Empire back up in some way!

Yes theres some history i have read in the past about a shelby running around Lemans as a recce car! the only famous GT350R i know of that raced in lemans was The Team Claude Dubois #17 in 1967, It didnt finish having a broken gearbox. But i dont know if they used a RHD Shelby to prep for the race.

You reminded me of Claude Dubois My friend Richard has a very interesting conversion on his 69 Shelby on the rear suspension that i should share with people, I believe it was done by Claudes team as he was a registed owner of the car.

    Hi Steve and welcome aboard,
During the first Pony Drive in 1989 when 37 Mustangs from
Europe were shipped over and drove across this great country
they attended a car show in Fort Worth, Texas, Yellow Rose.
One of the cars was a red, I believe 66 Mustang from the U.K.
that had right hand steering. Very beat up car but fun to see.
I was there and may have a picture somewhere.

    Steve,
Everyone here Loves their Shelby and pictures on this forum. No need to be shy.

The digital pictures I sent to you were Lithographs from original art created exclusively for the " Shelby Heart Transplant Trust in England" by noted artist Martin Tomlinson. The original ordering info can be seen in the "Shelby American #66 page 44." They were sold in a set of 5 for $650.00. I haven't seen an original but trust you are happy with your purchase. There are a lot of collectors on this site. You might want to start a new thread with a picture for more information.

There is so many British Shelby enthusiasts. You guys should charter a flight and invade us SAAC 33.
    CHEERS,
