I have just purchased this 78 and am looking for any info or pic. Dont seem to be much of either on the web.
Are there any 1978 King Cobra owners out here !! I just purchase one and I have searched the web and I can't seem to find any info or pic of a 1978 king cobra. Is this model a dud or am I the only owner of this type of mustang.
TJ, Welcome to the forum. Back when (let's not ask how far back in time please) I was in college I purchased a 30K mile, silver over red 1978 Mustang II equipped with a 302 V8, automatic, a/c, and an unusual ASC T-top (removable T grid and hatch window, integrated roll bar,and Shelby like shoulder harnesses). I have to admit that I loved that car. Over three years I put 60,000 plus miles on her. She and I parted company one day when a little old lady entered the expressway going the wrong way. Your "King" is a rare car and worthy of enthusiasm and care. Keep looking; you will find some other "King", Cobra II, and Mustang II enthusiasts out there. If you have not yet found Tony Branda Shelby and Mustang Parts .... he is worth looking up. His catalog has parts for your car as well as the early Shelby cars. Again, welcome! Rick aka: Engineer
For Pics, I just go to Yahoo. At the Top of there site, you can find Images & Videos of all kinds of things. Just click on the Image Tab and type in King Cobra Mustang and hit search. David.
The II's are like Rodney Dangerfield, they just don't get much respect. Personally I always liked the lines of the car and I have a 77 that I drag race with. I never really understood why they're not well liked by some people, if it weren't for them hanging tough during the dark ages of automotive history who knows where our mustangs would be today. You can try www.stangsunleashed.com and www.vintage-mustang.com, both have sections dedicated to the mustang II. Good luck with the car. Edit: another site I forgot about is www.mustangforums.com. They also have a special forum section for mustang II's.
Here is a link to an article on them. I have meet Dale, the owner of the feature car, and he is a nice guy. I could try to contact him if you have specific question. His car is basically like brand new. http://www.mustangmonthly.com/featuredvehicles/1978_ford_king_cobra_mustang_classic_show_car/index.html
