What would be a good alternative for the Cobra S1MS intake. I'm not looking for an authentic "name", just want the same look and performance. I don't care what name is stamped on it as it won't be for an original Shelby. Any suggestions? I'm running a 650 Holley double pumper with a LeMans solid lifter cam. Currently has the S1MS intake and I want to replace it. Everything runs pretty darn good right now, so I don't want to fiddle too much.

What about the C9OX intake? I believe it is the same casting as the Cobra/Shelby intake but has the Ford lettering. They pop up on Ebay and are not nearly as expensive as a Cobra or Shelby lettered version.

How about a new Edelbrock Performer RPM 302 intake. Will that work the same? They claim it's a direct replacement for a Shelby GT350. Can also find it less than $200.

The Edelbrock F4B is a perfect swap.. It looks very similar.. It will work really well with your C7 cam.. If you have to hog out the runners to match them up with your heads.. no big deal..

If you want something different try finding a COLT 500 Intake. Its another copy like the Edelbrock F4-B just a different company. Got one out in the shop... but no picture handy.

Just another option that will stand out from the crowd of other more common intakes ;)

How about a Ford c9ox-9425 Intake? I realize it's 1969, but is it the same as the Cobra manifold?

AFAIK the C9OX is the same casting as the Cobra intake as Jon mentioned in his post above.

If your car is running so good with the S1MS why remove it?

Thanks for all your help, guys. I may want to remove the S1MS intake in favor of a much cheaper alternative as I may need to free up some cash in the future and may want to sell the S1MS.

You can stop by your local friendly Ford dealer today and buy one of these for less than $200. It's almost just like the original. Then you don't have to worry about cracks, corrosion, stripped holes, etc. It will be brand new! The part number is M-9424-A321.

I have been told by reliable sources that the Edelbrock Performer RPM intake is worth around 25 HP over the
S1MS intake. That sounds reasonable given the evolution in performance parts today as compared to 40+ years ago.
