Welcome, from the other Dave with an 86 GLHS and a Rampage. And yes, another forum to surf instead of actually putting one of my cars back together...
You need to get your wife interested more into our cars. That way she can kick you off the computer to read these for herself and send you out to the garage to do the car work...
She's interested in car(s) (not the CSX though) but not the computer..I'm usually in the garage working on the cars look what time it is..
Yep, one more message board for me to use to stay awake during my computer classes at school Glad to see you all here
Back off Kevin, I have dibs Just kidding.... I'm making the trip up to Ohio for Turbopalooza on I believe November 9th (the weekend of). It would be great to get some of the SC guys to head up as well, it's only a 6hr. drive! Road Trip!!!
Yep, thats me. This was taken during our second LSSDAC poker run back in 2000. I was so pumped up after that, my co-pilot(wife) and I misread the cryptic instructions and drove 45min off of the poker run path. We missed picking up all but one card, but were allowed to draw our cards since we made it back to the final check point with only 2 min to spare. The icing on the cake was that we won the event with the largest poker hand..$165.00 if my memory serves me correctly. Man...I wished they hadn't taken that hill away. The Oklahoma highway dept destroyed that section of road about 2 years ago. Glad I took the chance while I had it.... Dan
Nope it's the real deal.... But let me know if you've heard of a R/C Omni..I'd love to see that There was another guy during the run that made the same jump at 70 MPH in a TII Rampage. My wife said he REALLY flew but didn't catch him with the camera. We were calling him "Scary" Larry Jenkins by the end of the day. This road was a two lane highway, and we didn't have any radios. Kinda nerve racking to some degree.
Oh yeah I am sure it is real. Just kind of looks like an R/C. I wish I could find a R/C Omni too. How hard was the landing? Can you post the full size picture?
Can we know who took the picture, i mean that must have been split second timing, to get a shot with all four wheels up. how fast were you going?
The hill broke away just right for the 60 MPH jump, so my landing was butter smooth. If it wasn't for the cooler in the back for the car, it would have been quite also. I couldn't even tell I had came of the deck. As for Scary Larry....well his 70 MPH run sent him futher down the hill where it began to flatten out. Lets just say he pulled over to check the strut towers after he landed...He said once was enough, and it was harsh. It didn't damage his Rampage, just rattled his teeth. As far as who took the photo, it was my wife. She was using an auto-focus Pentax FILM camera with a 15x zoom. How did she catch the shot??? Dumb luck and me hitting the car horn as I crested the hill. The shot of Scary Larry's jump caught him landing and was blurry, so I just happened to get lucky. I'll work on getting the full photo up later, I'll post it in the photo section.
