Hi All, I am new to this group, I have a 2007 Shelby GT and live at Lake Tahoe Ca. My question: I am going to supercharge my car. I have been comparing the Paxton and the Whipple superchargers. Does anyone have any idea as to the future value of a car with either of these? Would the value be the same? I am having a tough time in that I know the Whipple will give me more horsepower and quicker response, but the Paxton is more of a "Shelby" original part. Thanks Russ
Re: Crystal ball question Well..... if it is "Future Value" that you want, drop the Car off at Shelby Automobiles and have them install their Super Charger on it. My second choice would be to have your local Ford Dealership install a RoushCharger Super Charger so your Factory Warranty will cover it. David.
Re: Crystal ball question Thanks for your response. Either supercharger would be installed at SAI and would have the supercharger's warranty on it.
Re: Crystal ball question I would think if it's installed at SAI and you have the paperwork to back it up that the choice would be yours and either would have the same impact on any possible future collectability.
Re: Crystal ball question If these cars end up valued like the ones from the 60's then paper work is everything. Get the supercharger you prefer and take pictures before and after. File away eveything SAI gives you. Also, I believe anything done at SAI will be added to the registry automatically but you better check on that.
I have the opportunity to buy a 07 gt with 1100 miles on it for $36K. The car has been modified with a whipple supercharger from Ford ---500 hp kit. Dynospeed Racing tuning package with programmable ECU The car is beautiful but I am concerned that the car cant handle that kind of power and is it worth buying this kind of power and probably voiding the powertrain warranty??? would it be better to just buy a stock gt???? I thought it was a pretty good price since the bill for the modifications was $10,400
From what I have heard, as long as you don't go past the 500 hp at the rear wheel, you are ok. If a Ford dealership or Shelby put on the Whipple, I believe you keep the factory warranty. I was looking into having a local Ford dealer put on my supercharger and I was told as long as they do it, the factory warranty stays in effect. This was for the 400hp whipple, so I would assume that it would be the same for the 500hp one. I would have the car looked at carefully, as maybe there are problems that prompted the owner to sell it. Personally I would go with a new stock one, so you know how it had been treated well and know that any add ons were done properly. Mine is at SAI having a Paxton and gauge package put on as I type . They are great cars, good luck. If I can be of any help, let me know. Russ
what is the price difference between the whipple and the paxton superchargers? I have the shelby gt as well and want to either throw in a supercharger this summer or a twin turbo!

You may also want to look into the Kenne Bell supercharger. It is now an avalible option through Shelby.
Just joined the forum and also looking at Supercharging my 07 SGT. Was thinking of buying the Ford Racing kit and installing it myself. Bad idea??? John
Not a bad idea if you aren't worried about keeping it in the registry. I don't know how much it will increase or decrease the value in the long run. I guess it's your call.
You are correct! All GT500's came with a Supercharger, the SGT's came from the Shelby garage with a 319 HP 4.6 Litre V8. No supercharger.
I'm new to this game. What's an SGT? And what abbreviation do you use for the GT500? I thought an SGT was a "S"helby "GT" 500.
I'll give you a brief explanation as I know it. I'm sure I'll get flamed for missing something or getting something wrong. The GT500 is built by Ford at the Ford plant to Shelby specs with the Shelby badge, it is a supercharged 5.4 litre V8. The Shelby GT is a Mustang GT with a fuel injected 4.6 litre V8 that is refitted at the Shelby plant in Las Vegas, consisting of: a new tune, lowered suspension, short shifter some cosmetic mods. A Shelby GT-H is the Model that Shelby produced for Hertz rental agency in 2006 they are Black with gold stripes 319 HP fuel injected almost all were automatics a few manuals. The Shelby GT or SGT as it is referred to was first made in 2007 in black or white with silver stripes, either manual or automatic, all of which were coupes. In 2008 they were made basically Vista Blue with silver stripes, either a coupe or a convertible, and either auto or stick. There were some that were grabber orange with the sliver stripe that were to indicate a California edition. These were the only years that the "SGT" was produced in so called production runs. You will find the Barrett Jackson models that had red stripes along with some "California" models that are Black w/ silver also. The "SGT" could also be upfitted with a supercharger (Paxton, Whipple, Kenne Bell to name a few) thereby making it a Shelby GT/SC. If you aren't confused yet, Shelby also released several new models in July of this year making a collage of different offerings that still have mine and many other heads spinning. I hope this helps, somewhat anyway. Have a great day! Doug
