Connecting CS and the SRT-4 is a reach. Sure, it's a mini-hotrod but did THE MAN have anything to do w/ that motor? I think not. Nice paint though!
That's what it's going in http://dodgez.com/srt_project_01.html Some would say his Lotus motor is where the Neon, following that the SRT4, came from. As in Chrysler used Shelby to test DOHC heads. Shelby was a little head for his time. If he would have made 90 CSX with the Lotus motor and around 280hp (I think that's what it was going to be). It would have been 12 years before anything could touch it, stats wise. He also toy'ed with an 85 or 86 AWD Turbo Z.
I doubt that it would have been 280 hp. 225 to 235 hp is more likely. The botom line is that these vehicles were killed off due to lack of sales.
Here is some reading about the CSX. He had the motor emission tested for 260hp which was too much for fwd and you are right it would have been dropped to 225. He wanted to go awd but the cost was too much. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/3740/concepts/birthday.html I thought Shelby and Chrysler had a falling out and that’s why they parted ways? Someone that Shelby liked dealing with (Old friend from Ford I think) left Chrysler and they doing things like selling a “Lancer Shelby” for less then a “Shelby Lancer” with a real T-II and a-555 with a better warranty. I think there was a bunch of stuff like that which added up to upset Shelby enough to leave them. I believe that is why the T-III motor came out after the T-IV. Shelby owned the motor which was going to come out 90 along with VNT which we all know he didn’t make any cars in 90. So in 91 it was the last year for Shelby and Dodge and I think that’s when he sold the T-III motor to Dodge. -note I am not sure how true that is just what I have heard in my years of dealing with these cars. Maybe RS can ask for us???? Hint hint what would the 90CSX have been
