Thanks Jim. Not sure if we can get some of these (the Ford changes especially) down to a vehicle. At best we can identify the extremes (cars way too early or late to have a particular detail.

The respectful open discussion/exchange, as always, is a big benefit of forums like this one.

    Jeff,
You know very well that there is a range of norms for the Shelby's.
What I dislike is that too many try to say their car was the exception on lots of things...blah blah.

Close is going to have to be good enough.

So I wonder When we will get a New Registry for the Shelby Mustangs?

Maybe this is not a good time to ask.

Oh yes.... the "everyone of these cars is different from another..... they ran out of stuff all the time....... they much have run out of that part......my car......." all the stories to explain why their car is different from any other. Nice thing is that unlike the late 70's and the 80's this has been reduced allot as SAAC (really the guys involved with the research - registry guys and concours guys)

Not that we do not understand that there were different things. But the vast majority of the details fall into a pattern, running change or something else we can often find on another car built at the same time. Its not like the shop sent Bobby down to the local hardware store to buy just enough screws for one particular car :noway:

Will have to wait to see how everything shakes out...about New Registry. Though this is off thread but has you local SAAC club been approached by Team S? Been seeing posts - unsettling

Does anyone know which cars received the heater blower shield? I thought it was only big block cars, but Dave Mathews told me that some GT 350's had them as well.

Most 67 GT350's had the heater motor shields.

Not sure why they were installed on the small blocks and not removed (though few were as Ford wanted) Possibly an item that someone would protect things (heater motor, workers fingers ;) during the changes at Shelby.

Something Bob confirmed during a conversation a few months back as I was finding allot of them on original cars. Thanks Bob

So "which cars" most or all. If you car is original take at look at the mounting studs and see if they still have adhesive on the threads (from the sealing process of the firewall) or if they do not. If not they had something removed. I would guess allot of them have been removed since they were considered incorrect for many years. I've asked that this bit of info be included in the MCA Shelby written rules for next year

I've seen some 67 GT 350s with the heater motor guard, I would not say most.....

Here one maybe we forgot: wasn't there 2 different intakes for the 67 GT 350 used? The S2MS, and the S7MS? (or do I mean S1MS?)

It may be only rumor, but I also heard that some very early 67's had the aluminum T oil pan. Sounds fishy to me.

Jon , #0001 has a Cobra T pan on it because of early owner observation and physical evidence on the car. The T pan was reported as one of the incentives that the two early owners rationalized to partner up to buy the car. One wanted the T pan for his Cobra and the other wanted the car. The car was cheep back then (early 70's). The engine was out of the car when I bought it and the T pan was not on the VIN stamped engine. The P/S brkt that holds the rubber union block for the hoses had been modified in such a way to eliminate clearence issues with a T pan. The brkt was still mounted to the chassis. So a T pan did in fact reside on the engine at one time. I concluded this was a early feature that was eliminated because of cost and the clearence issue. It also had the Monte Carlo bar that was eliminated. Over the years I wondered way a Cobra Roadster pan which isn't much larger in dimension then a sheet metal pan was not used . The Cobra Roadster pan would not have had the clearence problem but it had been out of production for a couple years by this time. I have heard of a couple other single digit cars with the T pan but can not confirm it. The Monte Carlo bar is illustrated on the dealer hand out but not the oil pan. I have not been able to confirm the provenence of the t pan by talking with any of the Shelby plant people who work there from back in the day. I am not 100% sure of this early feature like I am other features.

    Hi Bob,
Back in the mid 1970s I knew Jackie Smith and I believe he owned 1967 GT350 0062 back then. It didn't have it's original engine. The story back then was it's original engine was destroyed in a big way drag racing at the local track. Several people that knew the car when it was new and being raced said it came with an aluminum COBRA oil pan. Can't prove it, but that was the lore on that car when it was just a few years old. Other than its replacement engine it was a nice stock car. I had a later in the model year 1967 GT500 at the time and we compared notes on all the differences in his car and mine. I had never seen such an early one before.

    Mark,

If you still have the Monte Carlo bar, could you post some pictures of it? As you probably know, the standard bar that was used in 1965 and 1966 will not fit the engine compartment of a '67 without some modifications to the end plates. I would like to see what changes were made to the bar to make it fit. I have never seen a part number for anything other the '65 bar (S1MS 29432-A). Anyone have any information on a possible '67 Monte Carlo bar? Thanks.

    Hay all
Not to sure about this option on gt350s but didnt some get paxton superchargers gt350s, however i think i read somewhere that during the 67 shelby production run they crossed the supercharger off the option list i know this may not be convinent but thought i would bring it up in case.
    Thanks and sorry to bother
    Dave:thumbsup:

A lot of Paxtons got installed during the late 1600 numbered cars, as in:1677,1692,1694,1696,1697, & 1698. Then slightly later as in 2010,2085,2148, 2308, 2309, 2310, & 2311. These were from a list I made for a 1/25th scale model car. There might be others, I don't recall the total Paxton production count.

My understanding is that 28 cars had the factory supercharger option in 1967, it came in the trunk on most cars...dealer installed it.

It is taking longer than I anticipated to get everything together. Please bear with me. Things are really busy due to the holidays and reconfiguring rooms around the house. Right now, the boss has priority (and I don't mean the car kind). Just keep those suggestions coming and I'll see what can be done to accommodate. This is a pretty big project.

Take it easy, we've had only 40 years to put this together, let's get it correct.

    Roddster,

Thanks. I think this project will be very illuminating even if Dave Mathews is doing something similar. The difference is that we could possibly get some results a bit sooner since there is as yet no estimated date that the registry will be published (if I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me). Until then let's keep this thread active and collect as much data as possible.
