I was ready to pluck down my $250K (think he'd take a personal check?), but then I decided that I really wouldn't be able to handle a straight blade torque thrust for a spare on a car with curved blade magnesium R-model wheels.

Seriously... couldn't he have at least bought a regular Torque Thrust (curved spoke) wheel that looks a little closer to the four wheels on the car? And what's up with the "resto-mod" tri-bar headlights on a real '65 GT350? Isn't there some sort of punishment for doing things like that?

And, maybe it's just me, but for a $250K starting bid, I'd expect at least a couple shots of the underside and drivetrain behind the motor. I guess for $250K, you'd hop a flight to Florida and check it out in person, but the additional pic's would be nice to know if you're wasting your time flying out.

He apparently doesn't think he needs NOS stuff to get top dollar. Notice the "Reserve not met"? So his reserve is higher than his starting bid of $250K. Seems crazy high for a private party sale of a non-concours car. Maybe he's been watching too many auctions. I would think that car would need to have a history worth mentioning in his description to fetch that kind of money. Maybe a REALLY low serial number, which of course we don't know since it's covered.

My guess is he's not serious about selling it and he's just testing the waters. If he were serious he'd have put a lot more effort into the listing.

To me, this is an excellent example of why the Shelby Club is needed. Without the numbers you don't even have a starting point on determining the authenticity of this car. The description is a joke. If you want to generate some interest in a car selling for a quarter million dollars, a little history might be nice.

To me this is an excellent example of how the Shelby club has completely failed. By design, and by default. This car can be presented to 250,000,000 people and none of them save a very few have a clue if it is real.

There are postage stamps that are worth millions of dollars. A decent 14 year old stamp collector could spot a fake in 20 seconds. That is because all information about these things is published and shared and understood by anyone who has the inclination to find out. Vintage musical instruments follow the same model..
Because of SAAC these cars follow the "rare gems" model.. Can you tell the difference between a $10,000 wedding ring and a $150. "cubit-diamondell" probably not .. If you ask a jeweler he will tell you a bunch of mumbo jumbo.. How about that red stone or that green one in that necklace..YOW$a-BOW$a!!! People are content to spend fortunes on this stuff and they are totally at the mercy of the few.

This particular car I think is a vanity piece.. some kid is showing off his car..

$250,000 car.. 29 dollar sun super-tach...

No Jim, to me it is yet another example of you not liking SAAC without disclosing an actual case in point to be discussed. You alludded to 2 case scenarios I offered assistance and you never responded. if you are not part of the solution, then you are in t0hat other category.

It would cost more money to build such a fake than it would cost to buy a real one.. It will never happen. This is the folk-lore that feeds this system

a 1 inch square of printed paper (that was mass produced and sold for pennies) cant be successfully faked.. but a 3000 pound car with a paper trail 30 years long ......with virtually hundreds of traceable unique parts
...can be whipped out of any chop-shop in Kansas..I'm sorry but I'm not drinking that kool-aid..

Air cobras and rebodys are the RESULT of the secrecy endemic to SAAC policy. Thieves flourish in the dark of night. Scum-bags taking advantage of peoples ignorance. Clones and copys are the result of the car's greatness. The entire industry around it has out produced original cars 10 fold.. It is a good thing.
They are entirely different things.
Please just think about.
