Ya, ive got nothing against clones and reproductions. Aircobras and rebodys are cars that claim to be real though. While a rebody has a real serial number, it is not a real car.
Also, just kiddin with ya on the kansas thing.....but seriously, theres nothing to do out here!

It could also be that he just listed it on Ebay to shut the wife up.........LOL. "OK Hunny, I will try to sell it, but if it does not sell, I am keeping it"..............

I am glad your not drinking it leaves more for the rest of us!!!!!!!!
I am not sure what you mean by traceable unique parts??? I own enough original Shelby parts that I have collected over the years to put several complete cars together. I would put the best judges to the test of thier life!!!!!The only thing I would not have would be the FORD # under the tag !!!!
I know several 65 66 67 cars that are well know Shelbys to people on this site that are not what they seem. They are a Shelby in every way except for that ford # under an original tag and since they are never forced to drill out those rivets at a show no one is the wiser. This will only come out when the car sells if someone checks before they buy.:laf:

    Re: 65 on ebay

It would cost more money to build such a fake than it would cost to buy a real one.. It will never happen. This is the folk-lore that feeds this system

I can build a '65 Shelby clone for about 5 times less than the current value of a decent real '65.

Its my impression that the air cars exploited little known information on the forger's part, general naivete on the buyer's part and fortuitous timing.

Referencing the AC Cobra world, where clones of every imaginable description of quality now flood the market: Has this circumstance diminished the value the real Shelby-American AC Cobras today?

I believe clones are a great thing for the cobra market. There is nothing wrong with a good reproduction....as long as it is advertised as a clone or reproduction. If it didnt role out of one of the few shelby factorys in the sixties....then it is not an original car.

    Best Regards,

    eljimbo or whomever,
Please give us some factual basis for this high cost to build a clone...
Is this guy for real? Go look at a Branda catalog. For the casual collector with more $$$ than brains it would look like a real car, but it would be a fake...
Do you actually believe a clone would cost more? Just look on e-bay, you can get a damn nice fastback for $30K that is damn close to a '65 GT350. Maybe spend another $20k to fake all but the best and you have a '65 GT350 clone for 20% of the value of the real deal...

Please, please provide some facts to back up your ridiculous posts....

Referencing the 1965 GT-350 presently listed on E-Bay:

The owner has told me that the car is equipped with the original engine and transmission when I asked if it had the correct serialized engine block and T-10M1 transmission. The original wheels and oil pan are not available in this listing however.
