I was reading through Hemmings today and saw an ad for a 1965 GT350 painted blue with white stripes. The ad said "the only 65 GT350 to come from Shelby painted blue with white stripes". I had never heard about this car. True or False?
Dont see any info in the registry about it. Only white with blue stripes. How much does the guy want to the supposed blue car? Vern
The Green carryover 66 GT350 S supercharged car was the first Shelby GT350 to be painted other then white and blue. It belongs to Joyce Yates.
5S471 was reverse colors and so was Donohue's R-Model.. I don't know if they came from the factory that way.. They look nice that way. jimbo
It is listed in the new Hemmings in the Shelby Section....a bargain of 300k...it is next to an R model in Los Angeles for 900k...it seemed odd b/c i had never heard of this car or anyone mention it. Thanks.
Donohue's R-model was painted reverse colors for one race. It was his way to display his anger for not being chosen by Shelby to be a Factory Shelby Team driver for the up coming race season. After that race; he recieved a phone call from Shelby who told him "to put that car back to the way its susposed to be" by the next race. This incident was only one of several issues that prompted Donohue to go to Penske Racing where he gave Shelby and Ford seemingly continuous nightmares for the next several race seasons. shlby66
Donohue's blue GT 350 I remember seeing that car (in blue) at several races. I was at Bridgehampton, Vineland, Thompson, Harrisburg, Lime Rock, Marlboro, Bryor, and Watgens Glen in both 65 and 66.. I don't remember the sequence, but I do remember the car quite well. jimbo I do remember a story like you have mentioned about another one that had green stripes.. (maybe it was 3 stripes ?? green red green??) ...very foggy recollection
