Just thought this was kinda cool! Nice story. http://www.russoandsteele.com/collector_car/1965_shelby_cobra_csx4116_/7396.html Best Regards, Vern
My guess it will get to $95K plus commissions. A continuation Cobra track car driven by some famous people and many ordinary people ... is too much to explain or add a premium, in my opinion.
Could be wrong, but I think this car was on Cobra Country earlier this year for around $180,000. Not sure the series the write-up references ever happened.
Carroll won't be at that Auction cheering the bidders on so that car may suffer a bit. the Roll bar does give it that "Go Kart for Big Kids" Look!
Vern, please make sure you introduce yourself at RM. I'll be hanging around our Shelby truck all day. We go up right after CSX2011. It should be prime time!
I was browsing the web on rmauctions.com and noticed that 2011 isnt in the featured lots section like it was a few weeks ago. Do you know when rm will post all the other lots? Best wishes wishes with the truck, hope to see ya there! Best Regards, Vern
Vern, I just spoke with the people at RM. They just told me that their web site will be updated no later than tomorrow with all of the lots for this January's auction. See you at the Biltmore!!!
Will you still be displaying the truck with 2011 sitting on the back as planned? That will be cool to see! Also, since it is a primetime lot...you will be shown on espn classic as surely the truck will be one of the featured lots that the broadcasters will talk about. Dare i say..the most interesting/unique car/truck at the auction so far? Vern
I don't know what the RM Auction people have in mind for the truck and car. I'm sure they will have to discuss putting 2011 on the back of the truck with the owner. I still need to photograph my car with the truck. I have no way of getting it up on the back of the truck. I am told that we are in a prime time slot so I guess it will be on ESPN! Wouldn't it be great if the same guy bought both?
Actually, the same guy buyin both cars would be extremely likely. Seeing as both are in great original condition...with the exception of a respray on 2011.....your truck is more originalf...so youve got braggin rights there! Best Regards, Vern
Those Shelby 'spec racers' do COST a ton of money, about $200K easily. As far as I know the race series never really took off, don't hear much about it anymore at least. Recently a spec racer, new and ready to roll, from a dealer was offered at $300,000 PLUS. Not street legal, no series to run them in, I'm afraid I don't understand the concept here...
The Shelby Spec Racers, also known as the Challenge Series Cobras, are still around. Here on the West Coast, they participate in several of the historic classes with some of the vintage clubs. They just ran here in Phoenix at PIR with the HSR West group. I also might add that they also won there class!
