Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I posted and I am still looking for the present owner of one of two original Shelby's that I owned back in the sixties. One was a 66 350, Ivy green with no stripes. Haldibrand(sp?) aluminum or magnesuim wheels and auto trans. Serial No. 6S1257. I raced the car in the sixties around Denver CO. I had the car repainted Poppy red w/white stripes in California some time later.
I have two original documents for this car that I found tucked away in some other old paperwork. The last time I posted was to try to find out if the car still existed.
Howard Pardee emailed me with information regarding who might own the car now and at that time I had computer problems and lost email. I did try the phone # he suggested I try in Texas but could not get a reply. I was moving at the time and things were rather hectic. Anyway, I still have the two documents and would like to see them go to the RIGHT home. These are the original documents that I received when I bought the car myself back then. Any help would be appreciated.
I also purchased a used 67 GT500 awhile after I sold or rather traded in my 66. The 67 GT500 was yellow with the same style wheels, 428 two four barrels and an automatic transmission. I don't have any more info on this car, but do have a photograph of it that I took at the Riverside Raceway when I worked some of the races. I would love to hear more about this car if possible.
Thanks to anyone with helpful information.
    Michael Christie

    Hey Mike
Not sure where the car is now but I have a few photos of the car and unfortunately I didn't mark where it was when the photos were taken. Maybe someone else may know from viewing the photos the location of 6S1257.

Hey Steve, I really appreciate the reply and photos. My heart skipped a beat when I saw them. I truly hope the car is the one and maybe more information will come forth. Wheels, interior looks the same if I remember correctly. I don't know if I described the correct name of the wheels in my last post and have been reading some the wheel descriptions on this site. Was there ever a mag wheel with the name Haldibrand or something like that?
    Thanks again,
    Michael Christie

    Hey Mike
I believe you are thinking HALIBRAND !! These are close but the wheels on this car was the 14" we call 10 spoke shelby 66's . They changed to 15 in 67 and used for 67 68 model years. The 66 version was unique to the year!! Hope someone can put you in touch with current owner . I have a few more photos but I thought this would help identify the car! Good luck !

Yep! thats the one's. Halibrands. That's what I remembered of the name of the wheels. Thank you for the correction on the name.
I am aware that there is a lot of bogus Shelby related items available from various sites on the internet, but I hope that the current owner of my old car is interested enough to contact me regarding the original Colorado title application and warranty documents.
I did see the white fenders on the last shot and was kind of wondering. Thanks for the update on the photos.

Hope this shows the picture. Sorry folks, I'm a little slow and rationing remaining brain cells. This picture was taken at the Holiday Inn in Riverside. I road raced there in formula cars (SCCA) and also worked with
emergency/fire as a volunteer for many years at most of the race tracks in So. Ca. including the first Long beach grand prix, Ontario Motor speedway, Mickey Thompson's first SCORE and well as the drag strips. What a great time.
Sorry to bore with a story about this car. But late one night coming home from a friends nightclub called Hess's in Long Beach heading home at 1:30 am, a pretty lady in a new Cadillac pulled up along side of me at a red light and looked over and made eye contact. Light turns green and she chirps the tires and away she go's. I pull up to next red light a half or so mile down the road and there she is, looking over, smiling and off she go's when the light turns green. I'm cool and not being intimidated by her because I had been, at Hess's that night and didn't need to get stopped. OK, the third red light about a half mile from my apartment in Downey, there she is. Looking over at me and smiling, light turns green and I buried the throtle to the floor, rear tires smoldering and away I go. She didn't move from the light. In about a minute or so and well into second gear (45mph zone, 35 at night) I see red lights behind me. Talk about being set up. I pulled over, officer put me through the roadside and the girl in Caddy drives on by. I was about two blocks from my apartment and he told me that if we walked across the street to a Dunkin Donuts for coffee and that if I would let him drive my Shelby (he was trying to talk his wife into letting him get one), he would let me go. And he did.
Don't mean to bore you guys, but had to mention it.

If I remember, Howard Pardee said that there was no yellow 67 Shelby's and that it must have been repainted. But if memory serves, the engine compartment/firewall, etc; were the same yellow as the rest of the car. So I can only assume that it was factory unless someone went to the trouble to pull the engine or at least go to the trouble to match the underneath colors.
    Anyone else know about this??

The engine compartment and firewall being yellow would definitely put it in the owner painted column. As a matter of procedure the engine compartment which consists of the firewall, front+ rear aprons/shock towers and the front and rear of the radiator support were painted black on San Jose built Mustangs . I think the color is trick though. Thanks for the great story.

Usually the engine bay is black but the undercoat would have been body color. Sounds as though someone did paint the car.
