I was going through my old Mustang Times Magazines (MCA) and on the Cover of Vol. 26 No. 3 (March 2002) is an Ive Green 1966 Shelby G.T. 350 #6S762 onwed by Ohio Resident Jerry Clement. Very cool story about how he got it from Mark Stacey of Stacey's Restorations. The Trunk Photo shows a "T" Handle type Lug Wrench. Is that Original from Shelby? David.
If the 66 Shelby you mention came with Cragar wheels, the "T" handle wrench is probably a Cragar wrench. I have an original "bent" one for my 65.
You should have seen this car thirty years ago....you wouldn't recognize it. When I first saw it, it was sitting outside in the backyard of a small house in Detroit, MI, covered up with a tarp. It was completely stripped - there was no interior, no trim, no glass, no engine, no hood, or fenders. Somebody had plans to make a drag-race car out of it, and you could see white grease-pencil lines on the rear quarters where they had planned to cut out the wheel openings for slicks - thank goodness they lost interest before cutting it up! Sitting next to it was 6S 285, in just a little bit better condition. It was still together, though not running. My friend bought 6S 285, and we left 6S 762 sitting there (I already had 6S 1206, and didn't have room for another one at the time). We got 6S 285 running, and he played with it for a year or so. I bought it from him after he blew up the engine. In 1975, I bought a Pantera, and sold both the GT350's, my GT500 convertible, and my BOSS 351 (after swapping the BOSS motor into the Pantera). Wish I could have kept them all, but, just couldn't swing it. regards, Jeff
