I was wondering if anyone bought the cold air intake and flash tune from FORD and is it worth it??? They claim an extra 40 HP and additional torque. If that's true I would be interested, if not then I'll hold on to my chips

Thats only $21.25 per Horse Power....:lmao: . You should check to make sure that you can use other Power Adders from other Companies with those Parts & Tuner. One Company sets it where you have to use only there Power Adders if you buy any of there stuff.

Well, you certainly will get the 40HP -- my understanding is that that's the identical intake and tune that goes in the KR (Ford Media KR Release). I don't have a GT500 but many do over at StangsUnleashed.com.

If you want a Ford-branded piece, that's it for the GT500 (M-9603-SVT07). Cost includes cal- tool to install the FRP tune. If you want more HP, there's certainly more than 40 available with a custom tune (my guess is 65+ easily).

Now, if Ford-branded is not a requirement, the JLT piece (made by Jay Tucker/JLT True Cold Air) is Carbon Fiber and very popular. It comes as a package with a SCT X2 tuner (or you can spec X3 if you want a lot of other features for a bit more) as opposed to the pro-cal tool from FRP with us pretty useless, and outstanding tune(s) developed by Evolution Performance (Aston, PA -- they also sell the same JLT pkg -- stage-1 JLT). Typically folks see anywhere from a 65-85+rwHP kick (from about 440rw/515crank stock to 505-525rwHP after at STD conditions) and costs less from JLT ($764) than the FRP package AND you get a quality tuner box that you can use in the future, do data-logging if needed, scan for and clear trouble codes, purchase and down-load tunes in the future, etc (as opposed to the pro-cal tool from FRP which just [barely <lol>] load a tune).

Another alternative is to just get the Evo custom tune + X2 or X3 tuner (no cold air kit) package (first two here) for $450 and get up to 59rwHP if you want to 'look' dead stock when bringing visiting dealer for service, etc.

Btw, Evolution Performance's tunes for the GT500 are second to none and from GT500 I've driven, everyone I know and all I've read work flawlessly. Driveablility is geatly improved and you will feel a dramatic throttle response improvement.

Just some thoughts/alternatives... have fun! ;-)

Nelson's wife is a client of mine and they did a little Tune on my Shelby GT that added som eGit up and Go. whenever I am cruising by I am always amazed at the amount of cars that people Drive or ship in from all over to get them to Tune

Howdy, yeah, they sure do. Nelson is the man! Spent a couple hours with him over lunch last January at the watering hole across the street. He's 100% car-guy! They do amazing work. ;-)
